‘Mate’
A beautiful green eyed stared at me and chorused with me. She had an oval face and those beautiful plump cupid lips. She was white, extremely white. I didn’t know whether that was her skin or makeup though. I could say a thousand words and still not fully describe her. Wait, wait let’s pause Nicole.
I know this wasn’t me. It’s just the effect of the mate bond.
I suddenly saw my mate running. My legs just went and followed her. Everyone was dazed as to why I was running but I continued. We continued running and the guards that ran with me stopped as I mind linked them to go back. I don’t want this to be an opportunity for anyone to slip to where they shouldn’t.
We still continued running far into the forest. I was tempted to shift into my wolf but at this time I need to be fully in control and that will slow me down.
Fuck, she’s so fast. She suddenly stopped.
Of course she’s tired. We are almost at the border of the pack.
Suddenly she turned, smirked and disappeared. I was stunned. I blinked unsure of what I had just seen.
My mind must be playing mind tricks or something.
‘Alpha, the party is getting tensed up. I’m barely holding these nut jobs alphas back. They are insisting on knowing what happened.’
I held back my anger.
‘I’ll be back. They better make sure they don’t step out of line.’
‘Beth is doing the talking and Laura and Betty are with us.’
‘That’s good.’
Though Betty is their adoptive daughter, we all treat her as family; she’s more of my daughter than theirs sometimes.
‘Well mate, I’ll see you later then.’
I shifted and ran back to the pack.
2 weeks after.
Evelyn’s P.O.V
‘Why did you leave Kris all on his own?’
My dad glared at me after listening to my absurd story which didn’t make sense.
I omitted the one most important point. The werewolf king is my mate.
My story didn’t really make sense as the alpha king wouldn’t chase me out of impulse.
'Did Emma come out?
‘No she didn’t.’
I answered without thinking.
Well, I don’t really like the conversation between my dad and Emma. They are so batter headed. He stared at me suspiciously.
‘What did you do, Evelyn?’
‘I didn’t do anything.’
I don’t like that’s he’s quick to assume I did something and it’s extremely infuriating
‘Then....’
‘I’ll tell you over meal.’
‘Go pick Kris first.’
I rolled my eyes as I slammed the door. I don’t even know why he bothers to send Kris with me when he’s just a big burden, nothing less.
Having a twin brother who loves to behave like the senior one can be very annoying.
Minutes later
‘Evie, Evie’
My mom chanted, the pitch gradually increasing. I grudgingly came down the stairs dropping the headphone on the counter stool.
‘Come help in the kitchen. I want to cook a special dish.’
‘What’s the occasion?’
I asked nonchalantly trying some of the pies while my mom smacked my hands away.
‘Your dad said that you have important news to tell us.’
I rolled my eyes as she handed me a knife to cut vegetables. I trust my dad and his awesome exaggerating skills and my mom's overdoing skills.
‘Mom you do know I’m busy.’
Though I’m still the vampire princess, dad gave me a lot of load as he says it will give me some experience.
I’m like his P.A. I even attend those boring council meetings and trust me it takes a lot to rule people and especially talk with those council members who think a female ruling is detrimental for the vampire kingdom.
If they knew was hybrid they’ll stop at no cost to ensure I’m a liability or some experimental lab rat.
‘Family is family. Culture is our root. Women must learn to cook. How else would you relieve your mate’s stress?'
I picked up my head phone and I could see my mom shake her head.
‘Well it is her stress. I don’t need the same lecture and surely not after finding my.... I better not think of it.’
