“If I can’t stop you, I’ll be alongside you.”
Suddenly, the world stopped as soon as he uttered those words. Our eyes locked with each other, and the wall of steel I’d built around my heart started to melt.
But then… I saw his lips from my peripheral vision. After a while, the corner of his lips started to stretch upwards, and his fast-beating heart pounded so loud that I was pulled out of my daze.
As if burned by a forbidden fire, I took a hasty step back, and my eyes were softly looking through his soul. They turned firmer as I threw him a glare.
“What? I said what I said, Tessa…” he whispered, cautiously taking a step closer to me.
