Philip's POV
As I walked to my next class, I couldn't stop thinking about Chris. He was so kind and easy to talk to, but I couldn't help but feel guilty for keeping my true identity a secret. I had never meant to lie to him, but now that he was showing an interest in my singing, I didn't know how to tell him the truth.
I had always been careful to keep my celebrity persona separate from my personal life, but being at this university had made it harder than ever to keep the two worlds apart. The rumors and stares were constant reminders of who I was, and it was getting harder and harder to keep up the facade.
As I walked into my next class, I saw Chris already sitting in his seat, looking over some notes. I took a deep breath and tried to push my worries aside, focusing instead on the lecture.
But as the class ended and Chris walked out with me, I knew I couldn't avoid the topic any longer. "Hey, Phil," he said, smiling. "I was thinking, maybe we could jam sometime. You know, you sing and I play guitar?"
I froze. I had never actually performed in front of anyone outside of my professional career, and the thought of revealing my true identity to Chris was terrifying. "Uh, I don't know," I said, trying to sound casual. "I'm not really that good."
Chris laughed. "Come on, man. I'm sure you're better than you think. Plus, I heard you singing in the dorm yesterday, and you sounded great."
My heart sank. I had been so careful not to sing too loudly, but I must have slipped up. "Oh, that," I said, trying to play it off. "I was just messing around."
Chris gave me a curious look. "Really? Because it sounded like you know what you're doing. Do you have any experience singing?"
I hesitated, not knowing how to answer. Should I tell him the truth? Or should I continue to lie and hope that he wouldn't find out?
Before I could say anything, my phone rang. It was my manager, calling about a last-minute recording session. I quickly excused myself and walked away, feeling relieved to have an excuse to end the conversation.
But as I walked down the hall, I couldn't help but feel guilty. I knew I had been caught in a lie, and I didn't know how to make it right. I had always been careful to keep my true identity a secret, but now that I had met Chris, I didn't know if I could keep up the facade any longer.
