Chris's POV
As I watched Philip walk away, I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. I had been hoping to get to know him better, but he seemed hesitant to open up to me.
I couldn't help but wonder what he was hiding. He had such a great voice, and I couldn't believe that he didn't have any experience singing. But when I tried to ask him about it, he seemed uncomfortable and quickly changed the subject.
I was still lost in thought when I heard a voice behind me. "Hey, Chris."
I turned around to see my friend and fellow music student, Maya, walking towards me. "Hey, Maya," I said, smiling. "What's up?"
"I heard you talking to Philip earlier," she said, giving me a knowing look. "He's cute."
I felt my cheeks flush. "What? No, we were just talking about music," I said, trying to play it off.
Maya rolled her eyes. "Sure, Chris. Whatever you say. But seriously, you should invite him to our next jam session. I think he'd fit in well with the group."
I considered it for a moment. It would be great to have Philip join us, but I didn't want to push him too hard. "I don't know," I said, shrugging. "He seems pretty busy with school and everything."
Maya gave me a sly smile. "Come on, Chris. I can tell you're interested in him. And he seemed pretty into you too."
I blushed again. "What? No, Maya. We're just friends."
But deep down, I knew she was right. There was something about Philip that drew me to him, something that made me want to get to know him better. Maybe it was his voice, or his easy smile, or the way he seemed so genuine and down-to-earth. Whatever it was, I couldn't deny the connection I felt with him.
As Maya and I walked to our next class, I couldn't stop thinking about Philip. I wanted to get to know him better, but I didn't know how to break through his walls. All I could do was hope that someday he would trust me enough to let me in.
