Philip's POV:
I couldn't believe my luck. I had just made a friend, and he had no idea who I really was. For the first time in a long time, I felt like a normal person, not like some kind of celebrity robot.
As I walked to my next class, I couldn't help but smile to myself. Chris had been so friendly and easy to talk to, and I couldn't wait to see him again.
But then a thought struck me: what if he found out? What if someone recognized me and told him? I would be humiliated, exposed as a fraud. And what if he only wanted to be friends with me because he knew who I was? What if he was just using me for my fame?
I shook my head, trying to banish those negative thoughts. I couldn't let fear hold me back. I had to live my life, take chances, make friends. Even if it meant living a double life, with one foot in the spotlight and one foot in the shadows.
As I walked into my next class, I noticed that people were looking at me. Not in a hostile way, but in a curious way. I was used to it, of course - I had been in the public eye since I was a teenager - but now it felt different. Now I was trying to hide, and it seemed like everyone was watching me.
I tried to focus on the lecture, but my mind kept drifting back to Chris. What did he think of me? Did he like me as a person, or was he just intrigued by my fake identity? And what would happen if he found out the truth?
As the class ended, I gathered my things and headed for the door. But then I heard someone calling my fake name.
"Hey, Phil! Wait up!"
It was Chris, jogging to catch up with me.
"Hey," I said, trying to act casual.
"I was wondering if you wanted to grab some lunch together?" he said.
My heart leaped. Lunch with a friend? That sounded amazing.
"Sure," I said, trying not to sound too eager.
As we walked to the cafeteria, Chris chattered away about his classes and his family. He was easy to talk to, and I found myself relaxing again. Maybe this double life thing wouldn't be so bad after all.
But then I saw someone I recognized. A girl from one of my concerts, staring at me with a look of recognition. I froze, hoping that she wouldn't say anything.
"Hey, aren't you-"
I cut her off. "No, you must be mistaken," I said, trying to sound convincing.
But Chris had heard her. "What's going on?" he asked, looking confused.
I tried to cover it up. "Nothing, just a case of mistaken identity," I said, hoping that he would buy it.
Chris looked skeptical, but he didn't press the issue. We got our lunch and found a table, and I tried to act like nothing had happened.
But I couldn't shake the feeling of dread. This double life thing was harder than I thought. And it was only a matter of time before someone figured out the truth.
After that, I walked back to my dorm room, feeling a sense of pride and relief. Maybe this whole thing would work out after all. Maybe I could have a normal life, at least for a little while.
I couldn't believe it. I had managed to make it through my first day of college without anyone recognizing me. It was a strange feeling, to be just a regular guy for once, with no cameras pointed my way and no fans clamoring for my attention.
