Ryder’s POV
One major I've come to realized about myself over the years, is that I'm a meticulous planner of events. I don't just wake up and make decisions without first of all weighing the pros and cons of the outcome. I hate knee-jacking my way through life. As a leader of a rogue pack, I've to be thinking on my feet twenty-four hours everyday. I can't afford to let my pack down. The alphas in my pack need to be appease most of the time before they get bored and start planning mutiny.
That is why I tried as much as I can to create fun and merriments most weekends. The life of an average rogue wolf is turbulent and dangerous enough, a little of fun and let the hairs down won't do any harm. The last weekend's merriments didn't go well as most of the wolves in the pack suffered from food poisoning. I suspected the chef that prepared the food might have hidden agenda. We had to do the needful by eliminating him.
I settled for Lila to prepare our next weekend dinner because my wolf, Dax liked her the very first time I came to her shop for my breakfast. Dax has a very strong instinct. I knew that Lila is not a chef, I was at a point were I had no choice. I needed somebody that I could trust. I still don't know the reason why I've not taken the time to investigate her background. The only thing I know about her is that she owns the pastries shop and she is squatting with her cousin somewhere across the town. Finding her name was never difficult. I
There is something about her that kept tugging my heart.
“All the alphas have recovered.” Galen said gaily. Galen has been my calming force in the Moonstrike pack. He is my second in command that also doubled as the pack doctor. “They are all up and running.”
“Good for them.” I jumped out of my van.
“I’ve booked a chef that would be preparing our meals for this weekend party.” I said cautiously.
“Whoopi! I can't wait.” Galen said excitedly.
“Who is he? I hope he could be trusted unlike the last one that was a traitor.” Galen spoke concern written all over his face.
“Is a she. Our next chef is a woman.” Ryder swallowed hard.
“A woman? Why not man?” Galen wasn't impressed one bit.
“Galen, I have chosen the chef that would prepare the food for our next weekend party. That is my final decision.
Galen knew better not to push it further.
Right from the first day I assumed the position of Moonstrike pack leader, I've ensure that my word is always final.
I hasten my pace towards the shade were the motor saw is. I've some couple of trees I need to cut down. Being a lumberjack from this particular part of the world can be lucrative and dangerous. I tried to teach the alphas in my pack how to earn an honest livelihood. You can be a rogue wolf and still live a comfortable and successful life.
I joined this pack many years ago as a nobody. I worked and fought hard through the ranks in order for me to where I'm now. It wasn't given to me on a platter of silver. I risked my life, blood was shed.
I joined this pack many years ago because of one reason; vengeance! I want to avenged the death of my mother. I want to claim what tightly belonged to me. I would've be burnt alongside my mother, but I managed to escaped with a deep scar on the right side of my face.
Now, under new identity, I can't wait to lay my hand on my step brother, Axel who caused me this painful loss. I would ensure that I killed him slowly why his mother watched before I would finally kill her too. I will serve my vengeance cold!
I might have the blood of Shadowfang flowing in me, but I'm Ryder Moonstrike, the alpha leader of the Moonstrike pack!
