I blinked, leaning forward and wondering if I had heard Jade correctly. "What did you just say?"
"I want a divorce, Silas." She repeated and this time her voice was stronger and more determined than I had ever heard it before.
For a moment I stood there processing her words before I felt laughter bubbling up in my chest. It started as a low chuckle but quickly grew into full-blown laughter that echoed through the room.
"A divorce?" I managed to get out between laughs. "You want a divorce?"
"Yes." She lifted her chin slightly as if trying to appear brave, but I could see the way her hands trembled at her sides.
"That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard come out of your mouth and that's saying something."
