I stood there alone with Jade and opened my mouth to say something, but she cut me off before I could even get a word out.
"I have more important matters to take care of," she said coldly, and her tone left no room for argument. "Excuse me."
She turned and walked away before I could respond, and I was left standing there, watching her disappear into the crowd. The emerald green dress swayed as she moved and I found myself unable to look away until she was completely out of sight.
