JADE’S POV
I did not understand the first words that came out of Nana’s mouth. Her lips moved but my brain could not process anything. My ears rang so loudly that it felt like the whole room was spinning.
I held the edge of my table as I could feel the floor moving under me.
That was exactly what happened to me. My vision truly went blurry. My throat closed up. My palms became wet. Cold sweat rolled down my back even though the room felt hot and bright.
“Nana” I whispered. “Please tell me this is a joke.”
The first crack in my voice came out before I could stop it.
