The shop owner beamed. "Miss Jasmine, you look wonderful! Now for your bracelet, can you take off that swan bracelet..." Camellia looked down at the bracelet. It was a gift from Devin. "Pardon me... But can we not include the bracelet? I want to wear this one... It has sentimental value for me..." The shop owner nodded, his eyes filled with understanding. "Of course, Miss Jasmine. The decision is all yours, and it looks great. Everything you wear, Miss Jasmine, is beautiful." Camellia smiled. "Thank you, mister... I'll be your regular customer from now on..." Afternoon arrived, and all the maids were preparing Camellia for the grand ball. They styled her hair, arranged her gown, and applied makeup. When Camellia looked at herself in the mirror, she was stunned. She had never looked so beautiful. One maid whispered to another, "Miss Jasmine will steal the spotlight tonight..." The other maid agreed. "You're right. Even a goddess would be envious of her beauty." Then, Camellia went downstairs where Kael was waiting. "You look not just lovely but wonderful... Sissy," he said, his eyes filled with admiration. Camellia smiled, taking her fan. "Thank you, brother... But where's mother and father..." Kael answered, "They're already there talking to the officials... So we will go there by ourselves... Don't worry, I'll take good care of our princess..." Camellia blushed, a warmth spreading through her cheeks. "Brother!" she protested playfully, though a part of her was secretly pleased by his words. They got into the carriage, and as they began their journey to the Zodiac Palace, Camellia's eyes were drawn to the window. The vibrant colors of the setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange, pink, and purple, a breathtaking spectacle that mirrored the turmoil in her heart. She glanced at Kael, his face a mask of stoicism, but she could sense the tension beneath the surface. He had always been her protector, her rock, but even he seemed apprehensive about the night ahead. As they approached the Zodiac Palace, the grandeur of the building took her breath away. The palace, bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, stood like a beacon of power and majesty. Her stomach churned with a mixture of nervousness and trepidation. Tonight, maybe her fate would be decided instead. The carriage pulled up to the entrance, and Kael offered her his hand to help her down. As they walked towards the palace, the murmur of the crowd grew louder, a symphony of anticipation and fear. Camellia felt a surge of adrenaline, a jolt of Fear that sent a shiver down her spine. The grand entrance hall of the Zodiac Palace was ablaze with light, the air thick with the scent of exotic perfumes and the murmur of hushed conversations. Camellia moved through the crowd, feeling the weight of the many eyes upon her. Her heart pounded, a drumbeat of anticipation. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the opulent ballroom. Crystal chandeliers glittered, their light reflecting off the polished marble floor and the richly embroidered gowns of the assembled ladies. A low hum of conversation filled the air, punctuated by the clinking of champagne flutes and the soft strains of a string quartet. kael left for a moment telling Camellia to enjoy herself and he will be back. Looking around, she spotted Zephyr, all dressed up and so handsome that every girl giggled at the sight of him. His tailored coat seemed to shimmer in the candlelight, and his easy smile drew admiring glances. The girls gossiped amongst themselves, their voices hushed yet excited: "Prince Zephyr is so hot and perfect! I want to be his damsel in distress!" Another girl chimed in, her voice slightly breathless: "But I like Prince Devin more; he's less serious than Prince Zephyr." A third girl added, her eyes wide with admiration, her gaze lingering on Camellia: "Who's that young lady...? She's so beautifully perfect... like a goddess!" Zephyr blushed, captivated by Camellia's beauty; his eyes never left hers. The air around them seemed to thicken with unspoken emotion. "You... You look very beautiful...", he stammered, his voice barely a whisper above the gentle music. Camellia replied softly, "You look handsome too," her smile a radiant counterpoint to the growing tension in the room. Zephyr reached for her hand, a hopeful light in his eyes. "May I take your hand, my Lady...?" She chuckled, a melodious sound that cut through the hushed anticipation. "Too much of a formality, Your Highness." Camellia linked her arm through his, their closeness a silent defiance against the approaching storm. Then Devin entered, a figure of brooding intensity, his dark coat a stark contrast to the lighter hues of the ballroom. Camellia's eyes lingered on him; a spark ignited within her, a feeling entirely new, electrifying the already charged atmosphere. He approached, his gaze fixed on the pair, a palpable shift in the energy of the room. Devin swiftly took Camellia's hand from Zephyr's, his touch possessive. "I believe... Jasmine is my fiancée...", he announced, his voice cutting through the music like a sharp blade. Zephyr glared, his eyes blazing with a mixture of anger and hurt. "You're overacting..." Devin spoke seriously, his voice low and intense, the words heavy with meaning. "No... I'm just claiming what's mine..." Devin pulled Camellia away, the music fading into the background as all eyes turned to the unfolding drama. Zephyr wanted to intervene, but Camellia subtly signaled him to stop, her expression a mixture of defiance and apprehension. Devin released her hand, his gaze intense, almost burning into her. "Why are you wearing such a exposed dress? You attract too much attention. You're too beautiful... Even Zephyr was attracted by your beauty." She replied sarcastically, her voice laced with a hint of amusement, "You should blame my parents for giving birth to such a beauty." He removed his coat and draped it over her shoulders, the gesture both protective and possessive. "Don't expose your shoulder and collarbone..." She crossed her arms, her defiance clear. "Seriously, you're ruining my attire..." He wrapped his arms around her Shoulder, the gesture sending shivers down her spine, yet leaving her uncertain of his true intentions. "Don't worry, you're still going to marry me anyway. No need to impress anyone..." She rolled her eyes, her expression a mixture of exasperation and something else... perhaps resignation? "Whatever..." The unspoken words hung heavy in the air, a testament to the complex emotions swirling between them.
