Elora stood in front of the apartment she had called home since she was a child, her heart sinking as she took in the scene before her. Her belongings were scattered all over the sidewalk, her clothes, books, and personal items tossed out like trash. She felt a wave of anger and sadness wash over her as she realized what had happened. Her stepmother, Madam Freda, had thrown her out.
Elora's eyes scanned the sidewalk, taking in the chaos. Her clothes were torn, her books were broken, and her personal items were scattered everywhere. It was as if Madam Freda had taken pleasure in destroying her belongings. She began to gather her belongings, trying to salvage what she could. As she worked, she couldn't help but wonder what she had done to deserve such treatment. Hadn't she suffered enough already?
Just as she was finishing up, Elora saw Madam Freda standing in the doorway, a smug look on her face. "You're not welcome here anymore," Madam Freda said. "You're nothing but a disappointment."
"This is my father's house," Elora said, "you do not have the right to drive me out of it."
Madam Freda sneered. "This is your father's house, but this is my husband's only property. Who do you think has more right to it? You should feel ashamed for not being able to save the man you keep calling father."
Elora's eyes locked onto Madam Freda's, her heart seething with anger and hurt. But she refused to give her stepmother the satisfaction of seeing her break down. Instead, she stood up straight, gathered her remaining belongings, and walked away.
Elora knew that only one of them could stay in the house, because living with her stepmother without the backing of her father would mean she would soon join her father in heaven. But on the other hand, she didn't have enough money to buy or rent a house at that moment, and she wasn't ready to use the strange money the stranger had left her just yet. So, in that moment, she decided on what to do.
She made her way to Rachel's apartment, her best friend since childhood. Rachel's eyes widened in shock as Elora recounted the events of the morning.
"Oh, Elora, I'm so sorry," Rachel said, enveloping her in a warm hug. "You can stay here with me for as long as you need."
Elora nodded gratefully, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders.

That night Elora applied to numerous jobs and within a week, Elora had landed a few interviews. One promising opportunity arose when she interviewed at a prestigious marketing firm. She walked into the interview room feeling confident, but things took a turn when the interviewer, Mr. Ben, asked about her personal life. Mr. Ben asked Elora, "So, tell me, Elora, are you in a relationship? Because I have to say, you're a very attractive young woman, and I'm curious to know if you're available."
"I'm sorry sir, could you repeat that?" Elora asked, trying to keep her cool. Mr. Ben smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I'm sorry, I was just distracted by your... assets," he said, his voice low and suggestive. Elora felt a surge of anger and disgust. "I'm here to talk about the job sir, not my body, nor my relationship status" she said, trying to keep her voice steady. Mr. Ben chuckled. "Oh, come on, Elora, don't be so uptight," he said, reaching out to touch her hand. Elora jerked her hand back, standing up. "I think this interview is over," she said, her voice firm. Mr. Ben stood up, his face reddening with anger. "Fine, leave then," he said. "You're not ready to get a job." Elora turned and walked out of the office, feeling relieved to be escaping the uncomfortable situation.
Elora's beauty was undeniable. Her long, dark hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, framing her heart-shaped face and piercing brown eyes. Her full lips curved into a perpetual smile, making her seem approachable and kind. Her slender yet curvy figure turned heads wherever she went, and her confident stride commanded attention. But her beauty had become a curse. She felt like people were judging her based on how she looked, rather than what she could do.
As she continued her job search, Elora encountered more and more men like Mr. Ben, who seemed to think that she owed them something in exchange for a job. She began to feel like she was running out of options, like she was being forced to choose between her values and her livelihood, and that she was stuck in a never-ending cycle.
Her strong morals, which she had always been proud of, now seemed like a burden. She felt like she was being punished for refusing to compromise her values. Despite the challenges she faced, Elora refused to give up. She knew that she deserved better, that she was worthy of respect and dignity. She continued to search for a job, determined to find an employer who would value her for her skills and qualifications, rather than her physical appearance.
Few days later, Elora's persistence finally paid off. She landed a job at Alexander Grey’s company, a prestigious firm in the city. As she walked through the office doors on her first day, Elora felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. She was determined to make a new life for herself, one that didn't involve her toxic stepmother, little did she know the course of her life was about to change forever.

As Elora settled into her new role as a secretary to the CEO’s PA, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. She was determined to prove herself and make a good impression.
On her first day, as she was getting familiar with the office, Elora noticed a commotion. The employees around her suddenly stood up, their faces turned towards the doorway. Elora followed their gaze and saw a tall, imposing figure walking towards them.
He was a man in his late 30s, with chiseled features and piercing blue eyes. His dark hair was perfectly styled, and his tailored suit seemed to accentuate his broad shoulders. Elora felt a flutter in her chest as she took in his commanding presence.
As he walked past, the employees nodded in respect, their voices barely above a whisper. "Good morning, Mr. Grey." Elora noticed that the women in the office seemed to be gazing at him with a mixture of admiration and adoration.
One of Elora's colleagues, a friendly-looking woman named Sarah, leaned over and whispered, "That's our CEO, Alexander Grey. He's a billionaire, and one of the most influential men in the city, if not the most influential."
Elora's eyes widened in surprise. She had had no idea that she was working for such a high-profile company, or that the CEO was so... captivating.
As the days went by, Elora caught glimpses of Alexander Grey, but they never spoke. She was just a small cog in the machine of his company, and he seemed to be a distant figure, untouchable and unreachable. But Elora couldn't help but feel drawn to him, even from afar.
