Chapter 1

229 Words
Savannah heard a quick padding of paws and turned to face the sound, shrieking in surprise when a large wolf-like creature appears out of the bushes, leaping straight at her. It swiftly bit her above her knee and she screamed as an overwhelming pain started pulsing through her body. She fell to the ground, silent tears streaming down her face, dark spots appearing in her vision then obscuring it completely, the pain fading through unconsciousness. She woke again in the forest behind her home, covered in dirt and leaves. Savannah was bewildered as to how she had gotten back to her house, seeing as she had blacked out on the sidewalk after . . . . . No. That couldn't have been real, could it? A giant wolf in the middle of Albuquerque, New Mexico? The idea was insane, and yet, that was what had bitten her, right? She looked down at her leg, but there was nothing, not even a scratch. Something had obviously happened because her pants were ripped, but there were no marks on her tan skin. She stared at where the marks should have been for a moment more, then ran into her home, up the stairs, and to the bathroom. She was so grimy, and she felt she desperately needed a nice, soothing, warm shower to distract her from the terrifying events of the previous night.
