Chapter 10

1904 Words
Nathaniel I’m so sorry, Nathan. The image of her asking for my forgiveness flashed in front of my eyes. Her betrayal. How long it had been since that night? Oh, it wasn’t that long ago. Everything started a year ago. “What the f**k are you doing here, Judith?” I asked coldly. Her silver eyes were looking at me full of guilt. If she felt responsible about what happened between us, then she should rethink her action that night.  I scanned her from top to bottom. White blouse with a blue blazer and a black leather skirt. Nothing changed about her. Her blonde hair remained the same. Those silver eyes, the color of the moon. The color I liked. Physically, the same. Inside, dirty as always. I turned away from her. “f**k off, Judith.” “Nathan—” “I don’t want to talk with you anymore.” “Nathan, I tried to explain but you never bothered to listen.” I smirked. Was this woman f*****g serious? I never bothered to listen because I didn’t need to. Because I already knew. Turning around to face her again, I said, “I should have known your motives since the first place, woman. What else besides wanting the man you wanted the most?” Her jaw dropped. “I never wanted Micah.” Oh, she sounded offended. Whatever. Whether she was offended or not, I was not interested to figure it out. The important part now I wanted her out of my sight, forever.  “Just leave me the f**k alone. And I ask you, very kindly, to not repeat the same mistake again.” She went silent. Her silver eyes kept glued on me. Damn it! I smashed the poor glass on the bar table. “Are you that f*****g desperate?” “I did everything with a reason, Nathan.” “I will never have you back in my life.” She swallowed hard. Her eyes started to redden. “I was trying to save Venus.”  I shook my head. “You never cared about her. All you cared about was yourself. You’re just jealous because a half-demon like Venus has a family, unlike you.” “That’s not the case. I love Venus. She’s my only friend.” “You sold your best friend to a f*****g incubus! Your wicked action had caused her Grant. Did you even know that Grant is dead now?” “Of course, I know. I was the one who sent his soul to Heaven.” I scowled. “You should go back there as well.” “You know that I can’t.” “Right, of course, you can’t anymore. Not after you sold your soul to the devil.” “I never do anything with Micah or any of his goons. I was helping all of you.” “I don’t f*****g believe you and before I do something unforgivable, leave.” And then my sight went blurry. f**k no! Not now. “Nathan? Nathan, what’s wrong?” I heard her calling for me as I held on to the table, trying to steady myself. No, I was not drunk. “Nathan!” she called again and I saw her hand trying to reach for me but I slapped her away. “Don’t f*****g touch me!” I walked away. I had to look for Venus.  Judith was here. Judith was bad news. The world started to spin. I was about to fell. “Nathan!” she screamed and held me down.  With her here, that only meant one thing. Micah was here as well. *** Venus Time had stopped. The world stopped circling. No sound. No music. I felt nothing. I could only see him. Our eyes fused. My crystal blue orbs. His hazel-green gems. Staring at me intensely. His gaze held me captive.  I couldn’t move my body.  He was far away from me. Sitting on the couch with a drink in his hand. The tip was at his sinful mouth but his eyes were on me all the time. I saw a woman sitting on his lap too but Micah didn’t do anything to her. All his focus was on me.  Was this an illusion again? Was this a dream? Everything felt so real. The world only centralized between us.  I didn’t know about Micah but I had become his prisoner. Only by his beautiful eyes. “Venus?” Steven’s voice broke everything. I could hear. I saw him. Blinking my eyes, switching my gazes between Steven and Micah. He was there. He was here.  He found me. I saw Micah finally drank his drink and the woman on his lap turned her attention to him. His eyes were still fixed on me. The woman practically had her lips around his face but he did nothing. What he was doing? From the corner of my eyes, I saw Steven turned to where Micah was.  “That’s the VIP area,” he stated. “It seems that man owns the place immediately.” Steven could see him.  This was not an illusion anymore.  Micah had positively found me. “Wow, the lady being ignored,” he commented and turned his attention back to me. “He is looking at you. He can’t help it because of how stunning you are.” Well, if I didn’t know Micah, I would be flattered. But I knew him. He was my ex-fiancé. My boyfriend’s murderer. My nightmare. “Can we go out? I need some air,” I asked hurriedly. “Sure.” The music reverted back to a disco. Steven led me out to the back, heading to the beach. I looked at the bar and found Nathan was not in his spot anymore. Where did he go? “Thanks, Steven,” I said once we were out.  “Do you know that man?” “No. I didn’t see Nathan inside. I’m worried and I don’t have my phone.” “I can look for him but will you be alright being here alone?” “I’ll be fine.” Maybe I should get in between many people so Micah couldn’t spot me.  “Okay. You should go to the beach. It’s much quieter and not a lot of people there.” “I will. Thank you, Steven.” He went back inside. I headed to the beach and just as Steven informed me, not a lot of people there. And it was quite dark. Hopefully, Micah won’t see me here.  I hope nothing happened to Nathan. Did Asher and Tyler get him? No, I hope not. Nathan was strong. But he was still resting because of the barrier. Maybe he won’t be as stronger as usual. Maybe I should go back inside to look for him. Or maybe wait in the car. It should be safer. But when I turned around, “Hi there, beautiful,” I was greeted by three men. All young, possibly around my age or a little bit older. “Are you Steven’s chick?” Chick? Were they meant by girlfriend? “Um, no. We’re just friends.”  One of them whistled. The guy with black hair. “Steven never brought a girl before. You must be important to him.” Okay, this didn’t sound good. I could see clearly; they were slightly drunk.  “Excuse me.” “Whoa, where are you going?” the man with the white t-shirt managed to capture my elbow, stopping my movement. “Stay with us, yeah?” “No, please let me go,” I pleaded while trying to take control of my hand. “Don’t be so difficult. We haven’t seen you around. Are you new?” “Let go of me.” “Stop moving!” His tone already hinted at the threat. I was doomed. Until a pair of hands grabbed my shoulders, stopping my erratic movement. The weird thing was I immediately recognized those hands even without the person had to speak first. With his usual full of authority tone, “The lady is with me. Go look for a f*****g w***e instead of her, assholes.”  The man immediately let me go. “Bastard,” he cursed and left with his friends.  Once again, I couldn’t move.  How comical was this. Just a few seconds ago, I was struggling over those three unknown men. But now, I couldn’t even move a budge. Almost like his hands had this weird strength to shut down all my muscles. Or maybe he did. Micah slowly spun me around so I would face him. I kept looking down at his dark jeans. And those expensive Armani shoes. He still smelled the same. Woody and minty. Sexy and appealing. Still the same Micaiah Donovan. The Micah I used to love. Or should I say, still loved.  “Venus,” he called my name, weirdly warm, slightly begging. Begging? Did Micah just beg me? “Will you look at me?” I didn’t. I knew what I would find if I looked into his eyes. Those sinful beautiful eyes.  I didn’t want to see anything. I didn’t want to witness his emotion. He gently grabbed my shoulders again. “Please, look at me.” There was something definitely wrong with his voice because Micah never sounded like this. I was doing a mental pep talk to myself; Micah was doing this on purpose. He knew if he didn’t sound like this, I won’t cooperate. And how stupid I was, his final beg melted my defense, everything I had built for the past six months – gone.  Slowly, I lifted my head, and instantly I was done for.  Nothing changed about him. He still had the stubble I loved about him. Not too thin and not too thick. Him wearing light blue linen shirts with a purple vest.  How come someone so cruel could look so lovely? This man was a demon. This man killed easily. This man destroyed people’s hearts – my heart. I should stay away and I was doing fine until he ruined everything.  “Venus,” he softly called, putting his hands on my cheeks. The same warmness. The same gentle gaze, only for me. Please, don’t do this to me, Micah. “Micah…” “I missed you, baby.” “Please…” “I won’t let you go anymore.” Tears escaped my eyes and he immediately wiped them with his thumbs.  “Micah, please. Don’t do this to me again.” “No. You stop doing this to us again.” He moved even closer. Mentally telling myself to move, kick him, punch him, anything, but I did nothing. And I instantly lost when he said, “Not anymore.” And my fate was sealed once again when his lips met mine.
