I woke up in a dark room with splitting pain shooting through my head. I sat up on a comfortable bed, not the reality I expected. Where was I? I placed my cold hands on my cheeks which were still swollen from crying. She was dead. I watched her die a surely painful death. It’s not like I admired or cared for her, but I couldn’t believe she was gone. Not only that, but she also died trying to protect me. I had hesitated, sure that her growls were aimed at me, but she lunged straight for our attackers. It wasn’t a real battle though. Neither of us were trained in the least bit.
