I walked out the side door of the pack house, inhaling the cold winter air and feeling it burn my lungs. Faint memories of the past always seemed to creep into my mind when I opened this door, and I sometimes had to force myself to remember that I was now the Luna of this pack, not its slave. I surveyed the large pine trees standing at attention as I headed towards the trailhead, thankful for the mild weather we were having as it meant comfort for the older members of our pack but holding a hint of sadness for the children who wanted a white Christmas.
