Chapter 5

Mika’s POV I get that just two days ago I was in a coma and miraculously woke up. But this is just getting ridiculous.   They put me on bed rest! Even after Alex told everyone that I was fine. I was not alone for one minute. There is always someone with me, making sure I didn’t relapse or something.  Even Jace, the brother I never knew I had, seems to be keeping a close eye on me when he is not discovering new powers. So far he has gained the power to get on my nerves and create ice out of nothing.  It is pretty awesome, and he has been learning from Alex, Skye and Jayden how to control his new found powers. It looks like since we have discovered each other, there was an awakening of sorts inside of Jace. This awakening has released the hold on his gifts. Whoever our parents are they must be powerful, our geniality pool must be swimming with good looks and extraordinary gifts.  They have decided to take turns to teach him how to harness his gift.  As for me, I am still as human as the day I was found. I have some serious blockages that are preventing me from being anything supernatural. Maybe, it’s a good thing. Having powers might  lead to going insane or something along that line.  My whole life I have been nothing but a human, maybe I can go back to just being human. I can live a normal average life, meet a boy and get married. Have children and buy a house with a white picket fence instead of raising them in the middle of the woods.  But at the moment I just wanted to be left alone for a while.  Kayla was walking with me. I needed to get out and so far Kayla has proven to be the only one I could stand being around right now.  We walked past a boy roundabout Kayla’s age – I swear she turned red in a split second when the boy smiled at her.  He was with a few of his friends, and they didn’t seem to care much about him not participating in their conversation anymore.  “Hey Kay, you want to play baseball with us?” The boy asked. “I . . .”  “She would love to.” I cut in before she said she can’t because she has to babysit me.  Kayla glared at me, but then focused on the boy and smiled.  “You won this round.” Kayla whispered in my ear, which is something that I found pointless since from what I discovered werewolves have supersonic hearing or something.  “Please don’t go too far out in the woods. Be back in an hour or else I will be out looking for you and if I can’t find you then, I will have to tell dad and we will both be in trouble.”  Trust me when I say, I really didn’t want to get Kayla in trouble. “One hour sounds reasonable enough.” I said and watched as she joined the group and I made my way towards the woods.  There seems to be a hiking trail that I can follow.  The walk felt peaceful and I was enjoying the moment silence. I allowed myself to zone away from all my problems and allow the images that are always there to play in my mind.  The images have never made sense to me before and I doubt they will start making sense to me now. Sometimes it’s like a small videos I see and each image makes me feel something. I haven’t told anyone about the images I see in my head and the way they make me feel because I am sure that if people knew they would think I am crazy.  The image that now showed in my head began playing like a movie, the people in it were all blurry.  I stopped where I was and closed my eyes. Whatever I was seeing now felt real. Some of the things I saw felt more real than others. There was definitely a woman standing in the middle of a field in front of a place that looked a bit like a hut or something. She was staring up into the sky and beaming.  A figure flew down, wings that shone gold but was as black as the darkest night spanned out twice the size of the figure folded in behind the figure. It was a man. His wings folded in behind his back.  I could feel the love he had for the woman in front of him. It was so powerful it almost knocked me off my feet.  But the love she had for him was different. There was something about her that screamed betrayal.  Whoever the man with the gigantic wings was he was betrayed by the woman he loved. The movie came to an end and I felt my heart break for the man. Even though, I can’t tell if what I saw was real or not. I could tell that it is an ancient memory or something. And I felt a sharp pain I never want to feel again ripped through my heart as images of a betrayal took the place of the movie.  I kneeled over and cried out. Although I have always felt one or other emotions when seeing these images and movies in my head playing out in front of me as if it is happening to me, I have never felt something so strong before. An involuntary tremor or gasp might escape me, but that was all.  The things I felt were all curses. I have experienced more pain, love, and so much more than a stadium full of octogenarians.  I opened my eyes and took in my surrounding area. The pain was still with me, I was full out crying and I couldn’t stop it. So I ran. I just wanted to run away from it. I needed to get away from it. I was crying so much that I could barely make out anything in front of me as I carried on running.  And I managed to run right into a tree.  A very warm, wide and tall  tree, that knocked me right off my feet and onto my ass.  Now on top of everything, my butt hurt.  “Hey, are you okay.” A deep male voice asked.  Whoever the man was, he was already lifting me up as if I was a doll. I kept my head down, because I will be damned if I let him see my tear stained cheeks and also let him know that his voice sent a jolt through my entire body. For all I know he might have the sexiest voice known to mankind but be a fat, balding forty year old who still lives with his mother.  A quick lift of my gaze indicated he was definitely not fat, but he was shirtless. And with abs like his, he was built like a pro-wrestler which is not something I usually find appealing.  “Miss?” He asked.  And that is also where I draw the line, there is something about this guy calling me Miss that made me want to cringe. “I am fine, thank you.” I said, and gathered enough courage to lift my head and look at him in the eyes.  And in truth I was fine, I felt the pain and sadness that the images left me with just disappear. As I stared at the eyes that were smiling just a second ago and now just looked murderous. The tall, dark and handsome stranger with eyes the colour of bark and long black hair that was tied growled at me.  ”Adelia, you should be dead. How is it possible that you are here?” He said and then gripped my arms. He was hurting me, but I was too scared to say anything as his ramblings went into Latin. I didn’t understand a word he was saying.  He squeezed my arms tighter and I knew that if I didn’t say anything soon he would hurt me more than he already is.  “Stop it!” I shouted, hoping he would stop talking and just let me go. He did stop talking but he didn’t let me go. “Whoever it is you think I am, I am not her. My name is Mika Davis and you are hurting me. ” He stared at me for a minute as if he was trying to read my mind. As if he wanted to get into my head and figure out if I was telling him the truth.  “I am sorry, it is just that you look exactly like someone I used to know.” He apologized.  I smiled at him and tried to lift an arm to place my hand on his shoulder, but I only ended up wincing and then lowering my arm again.  “s**t! I truly am sorry I hurt you.” He said and I saw genuine remorse in his eyes.  “It’s okay, I will heal. Whoever that woman was she really did a number on you to make you react the way you did with me.” I probably should not have said that, but the guy did look like he was about to murder me a little while ago.  “It was a long time ago but what she did destroyed me.” He said and attempted to smile, but it was just way to forced and I felt sorry for him. “I can tell you this; she screwed up and didn’t deserve you. So since I look a lot like her – we don’t stand a chance together, do we?” I said.  This time he laughed and shook his head.  “Do me a favor, tell me we don’t exactly look the same.” “You don’t, her eyes were grey.” He was falling back into a memory of her so I stood on my toes and kissed him on his cheek. “I should probably get back.” I said and turned around. “Let me walk with you Mika, it is the least I could do.” He said and quickly wrapped an arm around my waist when I tumbled a bit.  “Now that is not fair, you know my name and I am still in the dark about yours.”  “It’s Kyle.” Now that is a name to go with the tall brooding figure who just so happened to claim a part of my heart in a matter of seconds. Trust me to fall for a guy in a short bit who was not only ready to kill me for looking like his ex but who is also totally unavailable to me.  Yip. I just added one more reason to leave this place as soon as I could.  Kyle’s POV Hell, I came so close to killing Mika.  She looks so much like Adelia that it is uncanny.  But where Adelia was weak and would have whimpered and cowered away from me. Mika was strong and clear about who she was.  If not for the way she reacted to my sudden aggression towards her, the colour of her eyes and her essence that now surrounds me – I would have killed her.  Adelia was once the love of my life, I gave up everything for her but she betrayed me and she has been dead for a long time now.  “So,” Mika said as we walked back to where it was she came from. “This silence is killing me. Tell me why you were in the woods?”  She smiled at me and her eyes shone with curiosity.  “I was just working out.” “Working out?” She asked and raised an eyebrow, then eyed me from head to toe. She grinned and then bit her bottom lip. “Whatever workout you doing in the middle of the woods seems to be working, where can I sign up.” I laughed and then shook my head. “What were you doing in the middle of the woods?”  “I was in a coma for about a week and woke up two days ago. I know I should be on bed rest, but I feel fine and I just wanted to get away from everyone.” Mika said and sighed. “I needed some time alone with my thoughts.” That is something I understand. But she should still be in bed and not wandering alone in the woods. Mika tumbled a bit and was about to fall on her face when I reached out and pulled her towards me. What happened next was something out of a movie. She turned around in my arms and placed her hands on my chest. Her lips were slightly parted and her breathe tickled my skin. She closed her eyes and seemed to be thinking very hard about something.  A tear escaped her eyes and fell down her cheek. Whatever it was that was going through her mind was making her sad for some reason. I wanted to know what it was. I opened my mind telepathically to her and found that I couldn’t get past the barriers that she has erected around her thoughts.  Mika opened her eyes. “I am so sorry.” She said and pulled my head down as she lifted herself up and lightly brushed her lips against mine.   “Mika! Where have you been?” An angry male voice said.  Mika didn’t look towards the new comer her eyes were still on mine.  I looked up and saw it was Jace and he looked beyond pissed. “What are you doing with my sister, Kyle?” “No! No, no, no.”  “Oh, hell!” The supernatural world is about to turn the world into a bigger war zone than it already was. And Mika is going to be in the middle of it.
