UNSETTLED DOUBTS I couldn’t shake the unease after Margaret’s call. The anonymous message had rattled me more than I wanted to admit. Even though Sophia and I had our agreement at the café, doubt kept creeping in. I needed clarity. I needed to hear it from her directly. I sat on the edge of my small couch in the apartment and dialed her number.
