The First Touch

-Adi- I stretched my arms over my head, hearing tiny snaps as my spine cracked slowly. I cringed, clenching my teeth together to keep myself from screaming. The sound of bones crackling irritates me beyond belief. A small, angelic chuckle casts itself from the corner of my room, where bright brown eyes meet my own, a bright smile cast over the figure's lips. "What the f**k, who is there?" I screech, huddling in the corner of my bed. Elliot leaned forward, poking his face out of the dark corner, a single stream of moonlight illuminating his face. "You promised me you would be back to dinner quickly. When you didn't return, I got worried. I found you in here, you were asleep. I didn't want to wake you." He stated, his beautiful voice flooding my ears. He slowly rose from his seat, a groan escaping his lips as his knees cracked. I yet again cringed, covering my ears. A deep laugh echoes through my room, along with footsteps. Elliot stood at the foot of my bed, before slowly sitting down. His actions heaved an unpleasant creak from the bed frame. "How did you sleep?" He looked at me, his eyes filled with genuine interest. "I slept alright I guess, even though I had a weird dream." He drew his eyebrows together, a questioning look on his face. "What was it about?" "I dreamt a man was sitting in the stoop of the window and was whispering things to me before bounding off. It seemed so.. real." I said quietly. He brought his bottom lip between his teeth then released it slowly. "Yeah, that does seem pretty weird. At least you had quality sleep though, right?" "Yes, I guess you're right." I could feel a blush creeping up on my face, and I let a small grin stretch across my cheeks. "Well, it is around 5 in the morning; I really should get going, Adi." With that, he stood, stretching his arms before walking over towards me. He knelt to become eye level with me before placing his palm on my cheek. He brought his face near mine, hovering above my forehead before pressing a gentle kiss on my skin. He rose from his position and slowly walked to my door. "Bye, Elliot." "We'll talk soon, yeah?" He said, opening and walking through my door, shutting it before I could respond to his question. I flopped back onto my bed, letting a heavy breath escape. Not even a minute after Elliot's departure, my mother entered my room, standing next to my bed. "I can't believe he stayed all night. He must really feel something for you." She whispered, flashing her straight white teeth towards me. She flicked her black hair over her shoulder, preparing herself to talk once again. "Get up, and get ready to leave by 8. We're going shopping." "Okay, but why?" "We need to get you a new dress for when Elliot asks you to be his mate!" She exclaimed, clapping her hands together and bouncing up and down. "What?" I exclaimed, making sure it was clear that I was surprised. I had assumed Elliot had feelings for me, just from the way he smiled at me and the way he gently kissed my skin, but I never considered that he would actually ask me. "When?" I chirped, staring at my mother with anticipation. I needed answers, now. "Last night, after he returned to the table, he went on and on about you. He couldn't shut up about how much he loved your eyes! He told his father that he knew you would be a great pair. I guess he really took to you, huh? I didn't think he would've considered it since he is so shy and you're so forward..." She continued her speech, but my focus was distanced from her words. He honestly liked me, this was really going to happen. I was going to have a mate. "... Anyways, we're leaving soon, so if you want to shower before we leave I suggest you do it now." She said, huffing out a great big breath. She had to have been talking for at least 5 minutes without pause. She left my room, leaving me to ponder my thoughts alone. I was going to have a mate. Elliot was going to be mine. A feeling of bliss washed over me, and I couldn't seize my smile. I bounded up from my bed, running towards the bathroom in the hallway. Today was going to be an amazing day. ------------- I settled myself in the car, pulling the seat belt securely over my chest before turning to give my mom a look. She turned the keys in the ignition and started the car forward. She drove onto a highway that would lead us to the Square, our pack's center city. In the city, we had a shopping plaza with a few stores inside, a couple of restaurants, bars, and other attractions, like the theater. It had a little bit of everything, which was all we needed. Mom turned off onto an exit from the highway, entering the Square. She drove for a few more minutes before parking in front of the plaza. I unclicked my seat belt, pulling it back over my shoulder before unlocking the car's door. Mother mirrored my actions, grabbing her purse before exiting the vehicle. We walked into one of the first dress shops and gazed at the racks of dresses and gowns scattered throughout the store. Mom and I split into separate directions, so we could cover more space in less time. I looked at the first rack, which contained floor-length straight gowns. I swiped at each hanger, glancing at the front of each dress before pulling the next hanger. None of the dresses caught my eye, and I moved to another rack. After scouring through what seemed like hundreds of beaded gowns, I approached a rack with knee-length dresses. I spotted a clean-cut dress, which had tan lace covering pink fabric underneath. It was form-fitting and looked to rest just above the knees. I plucked it from the rack, holding it up to show my mother. Her mouth dropped, and she motioned towards the dressing rooms in a hurried motion. I practically sprinted towards the room, carrying the dress of choice over my shoulder. I picked the nearest room, before turning to lock the door. I quickly stripped off my clothes, before sliding the dress on. It hugged my hips, butt, and chest in all the right ways. It stopped just above my knee, which I was thankful for. I didn't want it to be too long. I closed my eyes, imagining Elliot's reaction to the dress, picturing the day he asked me to be his. He would be wearing a black button-up shirt, with a cream-colored tie. We are underneath a willow tree, and the entire pack was sitting on the grass around us. Elliot parted his lips, about to say the words that would forever bond us, but instead, a much deeper voice came through his lips. "I never pictured you as the kind of girl to wear something so professional and reserved. Though I do like the fit of it on you." This voice was definitely not Elliot's. I opened my eyes, to see someone standing close behind me in the mirror. He had his hands resting on my waist, and his chin rested on my shoulder. I quickly examined the man. He was a few inches taller than me, perhaps 6 foot 3. He had short black hair that was messy in the front. His eyes were a deep, dark chocolate brown, and his smile revealed slight dimples in his cheeks. His eyes held mine for a minute, and I remained surprisingly calm. "I've been waiting for so long to finally speak to you, Adi." The man spoke in a silky voice. The way he said my name made my heart melt slightly. This man was intoxicating. I turned to look him in the eyes, my front facing him. The possessive look that hung within his facial features told me he was of power, perhaps an Alpha. But something much worse hit me when I looked at him. Our eyes connected, and a fire began in my stomach, not just butterflies, but a livid, rampaging fire. My wolf was raging within me before she spoke one word to me, and I spoke it aloud. "Mine."
