The Symposium

696 Words
At an undisclosed location, a building stands at the end of the street, on first glance it looks like a normal family restaurant bearing the name “MAMMY’S DINER”, but it only boasted a few guests. At the back of the building, there is a small parking lot where inconspicuous cars, seven of them are parked. At first glance, it looks normal and regular until you look closer and see the few burly men lurking around the cars and back door. Inside the restaurant, one family of four sat a table eating doughnuts and fries, with two workers at the till. Two burly men stood at the side, blocking a door that led to a side room. In the side room sat five people, four men and a woman. “So they got away”, the woman started as she took her seat facing the men around a round table. “The men told me they had help from three people, it was unexpected. I'm working on tracking down who exactly helped them.” One of the men replied. “Have any of you spoken with Senator Johnson yet? He might be able to get the flashdrive faster if enough pressure is applied on him. Afterall, i don't think he wants his son dead yet. We all know what will happen if that drive gets into the wrong hands. It's bad enough it's in the hands of three immature children.” The man on the left side of the table said. “Well, i suppose Senator Johnson would be aware of this latest attempt on his son's life.” The woman replied while looking at the man directly in front of her, “afterall, you have the most to lose if the information on that drive becomes public information, you should pay him a visit, impress upon him the fact that he could lose his son if he doesn't start acting like a parent and gets us the drive. Inform him he has forty-eight hours to comply, or we'll intensify our efforts to get the drive back at the expense of his son's life”. The man nodded, “I'll do that today. If there's nothing else to discuss, let's call this meeting to an end.” So saying, they all get up and nod at each other. They file out of the room and into the restaurant, three of them take the back door towards their cars and the men at the back get in to the cars with them and drive off. The other two men move towards the door of the restaurant, only stopping to nod at each other before parting and going in opposite directions outside the door of the restaurant. Inside the resturant, the family keeps eating and talking at their table. The man who went in the right direction only stopped long enough to watch the three who took the back door get into their cars and leave before continuing on. He liked to walk, and today seemed like the perfect day for a walk. He had to think, and walking helped him to do that exactly. That flashdrive in the hands of those kids didn't bode well for them. The symposium would do anything to get it back. It contained incriminating information and it was information that could potentially ruin a few of them. It wouldn't ruin him, though. He had made sure of that when the plans on the flashdrive were first made. He couldn't afford for them to drag him into this quagmire they'd created for themselves. There were days he regretted joining the symposium, and this was just such a day. They had better solve this issue quickly. He had plans for the advancement of the symposium, and this problematic drive was about to cost him a few members he needed for his plans. He would call his own team of agents. They would get the drive off Christopher and his friends' dead bodies if they had to. Senator Johnson would just have to mourn the loss of his son. He increased his pace as a plan started forming in his mind.
