Chapter Three A Different Magnus Amelia I stood up reluctantly from the chair, looking up into his eyes, my heart wandering through various thoughts. Was this the same Magnus I left everything for years ago? Was this the same man who looked at me with so much love and admiration? All that was evident on his face was disgust and anger, but why? “Ma…Magnus.” I stuttered. He laughed and shook his head, “I thought it would be a lie, I thought I would get back to the kingdom and tell everyone who told me what you did that it was all lies, but I guess I was the wrong one.” He stepped closer to me. “I was wrong for believing a woman like you, I was wrong for believing a good for nothing human like you!” “What!” My heart sank and thumped with fear, what was going on? I looked directly into his eyes, wondering if this was really Magnus, I wondered if this was really the man I fell in love with. Magnus would fight against anyone who dares to belittle the humans, he would do anything just to give me whatever I want, but here he was trashing humans and making me feel like nothing. What went wrong? It had been six years since I saw him last, even though I had been warned not to ever set my eyes on him or allow him to find us or my kids would have to suffer for it, even though I had been warned that seeing him would only put his life in danger, I still wanted to see him, I keep waiting on him for the last six years, I keep hoping that he missed me just as much as I missed him, I prayed that he would never forget me, but with this? I wasn’t sure if all I had wished and prayed for ever happened, I wasn’t sure if he missed me just as I missed him, I wasn’t sure all of that happened. “Are you surprised?” He asked and held me by my shoulder, a weird smile on his face. “Remember what I said minutes ago, I am here to get back all the tears I have cried since the past six years because of you, and I am going to get it back in multiple folds, Amelia. I am back into your life, and it is not for good, I am back to make you feel the same pain I felt through the years.” I was perplexed, totally confused and unable to understand what he was talking about. What exactly was the problem? Why was he being this way? I could still remember that nothing happened between us before I left the kingdom, we were still so good, I believed he should be happy to see me again, not this way. “I…I don’t understand all you’ve been saying, Magnus, what happened?” I asked, but he gave me no answer. I knew what his silence met more than anyone else, I knew he bore a resentment and anger towards me. “Magnus, what is….” “Do not call my name again!” He yelled, and his voice echoed through the walls of the hospital, everyone directed their attention towards me. The peering eyes and surprising gaze only wanted to make me disappear, why would he yell at me that way? “I do not want to hear my name from a woman like you! Do not call my name again!” He yelled again. “Please, this is an hospital, and there are patients who can get triggered by noise, please keep your voice down.” One of the nurses said. “Mag…no, I just don’t understand you, I am..” “Amelia!” The loud voice called and I turned to find Lucas, my friend, the one who had stood by me for the past six years. Lucas had gone out to see if he would find a donor for Levi. I left Magnus standing all alone and quickly ran to Lucas, wondering if he had found a donor. “Did you find someone? Or any blood bank? Did you find a donor for my son?” I asked. Lucas only moved closer to me and pulled me to himself, I knew at that moment what that meant, I knew what he was trying to communicate to me. I broke into tears once again, my hand wrapping around him as I bit my lower lips, what do I do now? How do I save my son? I wouldn’t be abele to cope if anything happens to Levi, I wouldn’t be able to live without my son! “What do I do?” I cried in his arms. Lucas hand went to and fro on my back, and I felt his fingers digging through my hair, calming me down, but it only pulled more tears from my eyes, I felt so empty. I was helpless and hopeless, I didn’t know how to save my son, I wasn’t sure of how to get him a donor, I couldn’t bring myself to accept the fact that I was going to lose him if I don’t get all these. “We will find a way.” Lucas murmured to me. “But what way?” I cried, “what way now?” I felt a hand grabbed mine and pulled me away from Lucas. “What other way do you want when the father of the child is here?” That was Magnus. My head seemed to explode at the sound of that, the father of the child? Who told him that? My heart raced and my hands became sweaty, I could feel my whole body shaking. I was still looking for a way I wouldn’t get to lose my son, but with this, I would have to start looking for a way not to lose my three kids. The threat and warning I and gotten since the last six years was still so fresh in my head that I would do anything to avoid it. I had been warned that Magnus must not find out that he has a kid with me, and he must not get to see them, but what now? How did he get to know that Levi was his son? How did he even know that? I looked up at him slowly, wondering what to say and how I could convince him that Levi wasn’t his son. It was the only way to keep my kids save, I wouldn’t be able to live with anything bad happening to them. “Why do you look so surprised?” He asked, moving closer to me. “My main priority is to get my kids back, you came be thinking I am here for you, Amelia.” He scoffed. I shook my head, I wasn’t sure who could have told him that the kids were his, but I just had to make him believe in whatever way I could that the kids weren’t his, and they were never his. “But that is not true. Th…they are not… they are not your kids!” I finally spoke after lots of stuttering. “Then look into my eyes and say that to my face!” He yelled once more. “Look into my eyes and tell me they are not mine.” I couldn’t do that, I could never look into his eyes and tell him lies, I couldn’t. I hung my head, “I do not care what you think, but I am their mother and I know who the father of my kids are! They are mine!” I protested. He cupped my face and raised my head to face him. “Repeat that! Repeat what you’ve just said.” He stated, “tell me they are not mine.” I didn’t know what to do, I just kept staring into his eyes, unable to say anything or move. As I kept staring into his eyes, all I could think about was the memories we had and the moments we shared together, the moments I had missed so much, and the ones which I wish to relive again someday. “Let her go!” Lucas intervened and pushed Magnus away from me. “She said you are not the father, what more do you want to know!” I had told Lucas about this years ago, and he had seen the threat letters and warnings I kept on getting even after leaving the werewolf world, he knew the kids lives will be in danger if Magnus claims them. Magnus chuckled, “Amelia, could you tell your man not to interrupt or interfere in my business?” He looked up at me and I could see the anger and rage on his face. I knew him, I knew what Magnus could do whenever he was angry, he could destroy anything. Lucas wanted to move to him, but I held his hand and pulled him back. I shook my head, I wouldn’t be able to watch the two of them getting into a fight, Lucas was just doing all of that to protect the kids and I. I watched as Magnus turned and gestured to someone standing afar, it was when the person moved closer that I saw he was Ivan, Magnus bodyguard. “Let me have it.” Magnus said and took a file from him. “Here!” He threw it at me and the documents inside scattered all over the floor. I bent to the floor and picked the scattered documents, standing back up to go through it. My hands began to shake, my head spun and ached, what was this? How did he get the kids DNA sample? He moved closer and grabbed my hand. “What more evidence do you need than a 99.9% blood match!” He shouted. The documents fell from my hand, all I could think of was the danger he and the kids would be after this, how our lives would become miserable and disastrous as threatened. I stared blankly into his eyes.
