Chapter four

3646 Words
I wake up to exactly one minute till my alarm goes off, I look up and feel the cool breeze from my window that I sleep directly under. I love my room, it is cream coloured walls I painted myself, my wooden wardrobe my father made me with a matching set of draws, dresser and mirror. It is warm outside, so I wear my black skater dress, combat boots, sparkly earrings, with a matching neck less that has a sparkly heart, and my favourite bracelets that cling to wrists. I always wear Jewry, I put my dark red lipstick on, co wash my curls and rub some oils and hair moisture into them. Finally, I’m ready to go, I grab a juicy red apple from my kitchen and my bag before heading out. I have to take off my leather jacket as soon as I get into the car because it’s a really warm day, the sky is a pale blue, the clouds are fluffy, and the sun is high and gold. I’m driving down my favourite road with the beautiful blossom tress when I get a strange feeling, but I can’t place why. I finally reach work, I see Marea get out of her white BMW, today she is wearing a dark red blouse tucked into a black pencil skirt with black heels. Her clothes contrast perfectly with her snowy white hair, and as usual she wears red lipstick. I check my phone to make sure I am on time, I hear a knock at my window it’s Michelle she’s smiling brightly, in her usual white open blouse and dark green pencil skirt. She opens the passenger side and gets in; she puts her seat belt as she does her long red ponytail whips my shoulder. “Morning Lisa!” “Morning, why did you put your seat belt on?” “Oh..” She looks at her seat belt and laughs. “So how was it?” “How was what?” “Mr Erin Withers? Is he anything like Marea?” “Well our session was short, but I’m not sure he was friendly, he drew this picture of me” I hand her the picture from my bag. “He told me a family story of his about vampires and strange beings called Immortals.” “Wow he really captured your beautiful curls and face perfectly! It looks really life like, what did he use a pen and.. .Oh, wait is that crayon?” “He’s really good at art, he used my lipstick from my lips to do that.” Her eyes go wide they appear light green in this light, almost emerald green. “Wow he makes art look so easy, that’s really smart using your lipstick I mean. You have to tell me more about him.” “Ouu do I smell interest?” I give her a daring smile teasing her as she blushes. “He’s very handsome, but I bet he loves women, he seems mischievous like that. I’ve had my heart broken by a guy like him.” “Really? You wouldn’t be wrong he says woman are delicious” “Yeah I was in a relationship for about a year, I thought this guy Rick, was the one but he cheated on me with my best friend at the time.” Michelle glares at the dashboard her green eyes intense, angry she raises her head looking at something that I could not see. It all made sense why she was meek, as though recovering, I always heard her turn down outings from other work colleagues I’ve heard all about six different relationships each woman has had in the time I’ve known Michelle. “I knew it! He loves women like women loves chocolate! And the way you love your green tea, delicious.” We burst out laughing together. “When did this happen?” “Four years ago, we were young at the time, I should have known better, but I accept it was a learning curve for me.” “You’re still young, only twenty right. We still got time.” “So… What about you? Have you ever been in a relationship?” she turns to face me both hands leaning on the edge of her seat, she has a small smirk on her face and her eyes gleam. It makes me smile. I’ve never opened up about my personal life before, but I like Michelle. I begin to stare ahead; it’s become quite cloudy and the sun has been shaded by a big fluffy cloud. “I’ve been in two serious relationships, but eventually we just outgrew each other but I’m still good friends with them, one chose to live closer to their parents and siblings and the other stayed in by their university and is trying to become a doctor. Michelle nods and listens intently throughout. “I like being alone, there’s an independence to it, plus I like things to stay clean and tidy and perfect in my home.” I say laughing. Michelle nods ten sighs turning around to face the windshield. The truth was after a while I got really bored, their touch their voice everything became dull to me. It’s like they weren’t enough, I just figured it’s because they weren’t the right ones for me. “I totally understand, but doesn’t it ever get lonely-?” I go to answer but my eyes hit the time! Oh god we’re going to be late!  Michelle lets out a loud gasp, Michelle catches on she swings open the car door and launches herself out, but she is thrown back inside. I open my door and peer in. “Michelle? You alright?” I burst out into a fit of giggles! Oh my god she’s only gone to race out of the car with her seat belt still strapped on. I’m an obnoxious mess I hear my giggles echo when all of a sudden it begins to pour with rain. Michelle’s head is down and she’s half out of the car she is laughing  loudly shaking. We run inside the office dripping wet, my neck and chest is shinny from the rain and my curls hang lower down my shoulders and back. Michelle’s hair is still curly but it’s also dripping with wet from the rain. Marea walks towards us, her legs crossing each other carefully as she walks towards us with a curious expression, she’s holding her black cat eyeglasses in one hand and a beige folder in the other. She just stands there throws her head back and laughs “Consider this a punishment enough for you two being late.” Her mouth forms a small o as she peers through her glasses looking Michelle up and down. “Michelle your bra is practically visible through your shirt.” I glance at Michelle, Marea is right Michelle is visibly wearing a bright red bra through her shirt. I know that red bras for some reason look invisible under a white shirt but in this case it was really visible. Michele’s mouth is open her eyes dart to the left then back to Marea. Marea just tuts shakes her head slowly with a half-smile and walks into her office. The entire room is so quiet you could hear a pin drop I make a quick scan over the room, ah so that’s why the room is so quiet Erin is sitting on the cream sofa with a half empty mug of tea, his leg is crossed over his knee his arms spread confidently over the top of the cream sofa. He is slightly smirking at us, he wears an open neck light grey blouse and dark trousers with shinny shoes, there is a black jacket folded beside him. Three women are hovering over the coffee area staring at Erin practically swooning. I hide my surprise. “I see you’ve made yourself comfortable Mr Withers.” I say it brightly and smile as I do, I nod at the women staring me and Michelle down. Michelle turns around awkwardly…  He bends forward smiling as he says “I see you’re late, and very wet, Miss Storm. “ He smirks looking me up and down looking very amused. “Michelle, miss? You look cold I take it you didn’t bring a coat with you, here you can have mine until you’re dry.” His voice rings richly in the room, smooth and crisp. He gets up and hands Michelle his coat, she thanks him softly and takes it. She hesitates before putting it on. “I really don’t want to be any trouble-“ “Really I insist.” He takes back the coat slowly from Michelle, their eyes are locked onto each other’s as he takes quiet steps behind her and places the coat on her from behind, when their eyes broke Michelle looked at me, I gave her a small nod and smile. Her eyes widen and roll to the side as her eyebrows raise. “Thank you Erin.” She says softly then heads towards the waiting room where her client is waiting to be seen. Erin follows me into my room, this time I sit on the wooden chair, at least that way I do not have to worry about staining it with my very wet jacket. Erin places himself across from me, he stares at me I watch is eyes slowly trailing my appearance he confidently meets my gaze slightly raising his chin eloquently, lips parted, he bites his lower lip then lets it go what is he looking at. I was so fixated on him looking at me, I didn’t realise how my actions must have appeared… Narration 3rd: She is glowing from the rain, her golden-brown skin glows and reflects the light, the expression on her face is serious when looking at Erin, she’s analysing. Observing, subconsciously she is carefully slowly pulling her dark leather jacket off her shoulders she leans forward showing off her chest, Erin watches as the jacket slowly fall down her back and wet shoulders, it lands folded over the chair. The dress she wears clings tightly but comfortably hugs her chest, and her toned stomach and smoothly clings to her waist. Her chest is wet and shiny from the rain, she pulls her wet dripping curls over her right shoulder and gently squeezes the water into her hands. All whilst her dark brown eyes stare into Erin’s serious same way. One of her legs is folded over the other revealing her wet boots. Narration Lisa “Sorry I was late.” I say with a smile whilst awkwardly pulling half of my long curls around the other side of my neck. Erin is watching me intensely… He replies slowly “No need to worry.” He pauses and lets out a quick breath before sitting up “I came early and Marea was kind enough to let me sit in the staff room. It was all quite- amusing.” He speaks with such ease and a rich smooth deepness; His white hair glows in the sunlight pouring in from the window. He smiles as his eyes flicker at my appearance. “I saw Marea come inside five minutes before me and Michelle you weren’t with her, so I wasn’t expecting you so early I hope my surprise wasn’t rude.” I say smiling. “I left before Marea, I fancied a little drive about, by the way Miss Storm you have a beautiful laugh, what was it that you and Michelle were laughing at?” He heard that?! Were we that loud, god I knew my laugh was obnoxious but from that far? “Ah well” I couldn’t help it I  laugh again as the moment replays in my mind, hearing the door click open then hearing Michelle getting thrust back doubling over and seeing her hair cover her before the obvious slam of her body awkwardly hitting her head as she went back in. My laugh gets louder and my shoulders shake I dangle my head over the back of my chair holding onto my crossed leg. To my surprise I hear a laugh. 3rd narration: Lisa’s curly hair dangles over the chair, Erin watches grinning, the sun has hit her now her hair and eyes appearing lighter almost a red and golden hue to it. The way she is shaking and the way her mouth is open wide showing off the back of her white teeth, something takes over Erin. The sound of her laugh and the sight of her before him, he lets out a laugh. Lisa’s head lifts, she’s grinning back at Erin eyes surprised at his reaction. Her smile is beautiful. Lisa narration: Erin is smiling at me, his teeth are pearly white just like Marea’s their teeth identical, his light blue eyes are gleaming in the sun light. I explain to him through fits of laughter what happened in my car with Michelle.  He listens resting his chin on his fist, he laughs softly, it gets louder a little louder whenever a laugh escapes me. He tells me he throws art exhibitions with Marea of the children’s art who come here for therapy, as well as letting them express their other talents, singing, reading poems, stories etc. Some of the rooms had to be renovated so I haven’t seen one yet “I usually throw adult parties; I don’t know whether the next one should be pirate themed or masquerade. “ He bends forward, resting his chin on his fist. “What do you think Lisa?” “I think you should draw the two ideas down and see what one you like better.” “I like the way you think Lisa.” He says smoothly holding my eye contact and giving me a small smirk, he gets up and chooses two A 5 pieces of paper. He doesn’t even consider the pencils; he picks up the pot with the special ink pens. He sit down bent over the table slightly, That’s when I notice his shirt is slightly puffy, his sleeves have a slight puff to them and his open blouse hangs low enough that I can see part of his chest, his skin appears creamy and glows, his upper chest is firm I can make out his first pair of abs. Well at least he looks after his appearance… I try to focus on the sounds of the metal scratching the paper. His face is intense, his eyes slowly meet mine and his pupils restrict, he’s staring at my figure.. Okay so he’s drawing a woman shape. His stare at my eyes and body was something else. It was addictive I liked his eyes on me. “You have a particular style of fashion Erin, I like it, very unique. It’s kind of reminds me of what you’d see in Shakespeare time, the shirt that you’re wearing.” “Yeah?, this shirt is made from the finest silk and has been in my family for generations. I’ve always been called strange by other’s, but I like to wear it as my casual wear.”  “You dress very smartly; do you ever wear track suits or jeans? If you don’t mind me asking?” His eyes stare intensely into mine then looking back to his detailed sketch, his hand moves so fast the image is blurred by his fast-moving hand. I feel my eyes widen as they fail to focus on what he’s doing. He smirks at the page, “I wear whatever I feel, would you like to look into my wardrobe sometime? It’s more like a room.” “Ouu fancy” “I will be delighted to show you Miss Storm, that’s if you attend one of my parties.” He tells me he wants to throw one just like The Great Gatsby in F.Scott Fitzgerald’s novel . he goes into detail how all of his guests would all be dressed in 1920’s clothes, the parties he and Marea throw are expensive and he takes the theme really seriously. “Oh, really you know it?” His eyes widen in approval. “Yes, I’ve read the book.” I smirk He has not been looking at me for the past fifteen minutes, he seems consumed by what he’s sketching. “Michelle has really beautiful red hair, her eyes are quite something aren’t they?” ahh he likes what he sees with Michelle, an image flashes through my mind the way they locked eyes, the way he eyed her the day they met and a subconscious memory of him gazing at her shirt soaked from the rain. I smile and bite my lip trying to stop myself. He catches me smiling and his eyes gleam in amusement, he smiles at his page. “Yes, Michelle is very beautiful inside and out.” I say He stops his sketch; he pulls the two sketches together. The first one is me; I’m sitting in a chair my chest is pushed forward my stare serious, I’m wearing a pirate’s cap, in this portrait I’m pushing my black leather jacket off of my shoulders. I’m wearing a white puffy blouse with a dark corset that cinches into my waist, but the blouse extends into a short cream skater dress. My legs are crossed over one another revealing my bold black combat boots. My curls hang forward, he even captured cleavage, he got my body proportions to a t. A red ribbon hangs from the hat behind my hair, but the end is mostly revealed lying on my collar bone. He even adds my sparkly heart neck less and earrings through my hair, one of my bracelets slightly appear in the sleeve of my blouse.  At the bottom, its written in a beautiful old-style calligraphy “Pirate theme costume Lisa”    He pushes the other sketch towards me, It’s Michelle! She stands confidently wearing a tight-fitting white dress, its thin base reaches the floor and pools outward like a mermaid’s tail, she wears a red corset over the cream coloured dress. Her hair is out and wavy, it’s long and very voluminous it falls behind her waist and over her shoulders. She is standing slightly to the left side holding a red glitter mask in her right hand that cover only one eye, exposing one of her deep emerald eyes. Her stance is confident and but smooth. This is how she appears to Erin, wow he’s very good. He says smoothly “Something is missing.” He looks up at me his hand is on his chin, he bends forward his face inches away from mine, he does something unexpected. I hold my breath; he lifts his right hand and places it on my cheek. Whilst staring deeply into my eyes He’s so close now, he smells like a rose garden sweet but strong, there’s something quite musky about it, what’s worse is that I can see right into his shirt. As he’s bent low and so close I can count the abs on his chiselled chest. He whispers “Hold still”  his voice is even rich when he whispers, he runs his thumb firmly over the edge of my mouth he stares at my lips then into my eyes with a mischievous smirk. “Trust me Miss Storm; the rain smudged your lipstick around the corner of your mouth I’m just using it for the art, you see.” He was right, I saw a red smudge on his thumb, he smears it on the edge of a rubber and dots the lips that he drew. For Michelle he uses a light red pastel. “Wow you are really serious about your art.” I say trying to hide the fact that my heart is pounding, that was way too intense. “I want to capture both your likeness as perfectly as I can, drawing Michelle from memory it’s harder. But the problem is, I still can’t decide what theme to make my party this week.” Erin stares intensely at the portraits “It was as if Michelle was standing there while you sketched, your art skills are truly something-amazing Erin. What if, hm.” “Thank you Miss Storm, what was your suggestion?” He says a slight eagerness by how quickly he spoke “What if you did both themes.” “Ahh a crossed theme party- I like it, two different worlds coming together.” He smiles, one of his curl’s gleams in the light. “I have another idea for you Erin.” “Please tell me Lisa.” He asked it as if it was something secret he bends forward. I laughed. He smiles and bends forward resting his chin on his fist. “I’ll tell you the next idea if you finish telling me the story about the immortals and the other magical beings.” “Heh, you have me intrigued by your ideas Lisa- and I really want to know what your next great idea will be.” His voice was so crisp and deep as he said my name, it made me raise my head feeling pleased with myself and I challenged his eyes with mine. I felt my energy surge through me as our eyes began to challenge each other. “I bet I come up with a greater idea than yours.” He narrows his eyes playfully “What could be greater than the Great Gatsby idea?” He nods in consideration “Fair, so you admit I have great idea then, better than yours?.” He smirks narrowing his eyes a little I smirk and look to the side “We shall see.” We stand up together, the spell is broken by a knock at the door, Michelle enters. “I wanted to give you back your coat, thank you for borrowing it to me Erin it kept me from exposing myself.” She laughed nervously. Erin’s eyes widen he accepts his coat and smiles at Michelle. “Don’t mention it, I’m glad I could help, was the coat comfortable?” He smirks at her, she blushes “Oh yes, very warm nice design too.” Michelle smiles warmly, they are lost in each other’s presence. “Same time tomorrow, is that good for you Erin?.” I ask “Till tomorrow Lisa, Michelle-.” Erin takes both of our hands and places his lips between them. “Stop trying to charm my workers Erin, I’ll see you later.” Marea stood outside the door with her arms crossed, I did not even notice her come to the door. “Around dinner time I expect.” Marea gives him one nod. Erin lets go of both of our hands and does a short bow before winking at us and leaving, we watched him slowly stride out making sure to say goodbye to all the women in the office. They swoon and giggle like school children even the older ones. Me, Michelle and even Mara just look at each other and smile awkwardly.
