Chapter two

1660 Words
It’s half eleven in the morning, also it my break time, I’ve spent a few hours with a young girl, she told me she had a dream of someone with golden wings and she’s began to paint what she dreamt, she’s really talented for a nine year old. Since I told her that dreams can often be viewed symbolically. Hannah is her name; she’s been telling me about this reoccurring dream about an angelic figure and she says the energy of this figure feels familiar as though she knows it from somewhere. I wondered it might be her subconscious conjuring up images of her mum, her life was snatched away four years ago, bless her. But I encourage her to work on this project, and she really began to open up to me whilst working on this project. What a beautiful soul she is, you know I find that people who suffer with depression happen to feel things so deep, and I find them so beautiful. That deepens the natural ability to see life in a certain way and express it in so many forms, translated in so many beautiful ways and Hannah expresses hers through art. I am sitting in the open office lost in thought when Michelle comes behind me carrying two hot drinks. “It’s your favourite. Or what I usually see you drink.” She gives me a warm smile, Michelle has insanely emerald green eyes! It’s so rare to see someone with such eyes. Her hair is a rich shade of red and falls in big curly waves down her shoulders and back. She likes to wear her hair in a high but loose ponytail, she’s very beautiful. Her eyes carry a bold beauty about them and a confidence and yet she is so sweet ad kind. I met her on my first day as we were both hired at the same time, she giggled with me about the fact someone was obviously so nervous for the interview they had worn their top inside out and had un matching socks. So, you could say Michelle is my work buddy. She always wears an open neck white blouse, really the style of choice here, and she has it tucked into her emerald green skirt, really bring out her eyes. She is tall and slim. “Thanks Michelle! How thoughtful of you” I pretend to blush and take a sip of my green tea, ou I love a good mug of green tea! She’s knows me well  “I still can’t get over the fact you’re single Lisa! You’re so beautiful.” She says this with sincerity and a genuine warm smile. “Haha well, it’ll happen when it wants to I guess, and you say I’m beautiful Michelle! There’s not a day I haven’t seen you glowing.” It’s always as though Michelle is being bathed in the sun’s golden rays! “Oh, Lisa you have a way with words,” she giggles blushing slightly “I wish I had your natural curls there so dark and vibrant, like I can’t believe that’s actually your real hair! The curls are so perfect and coyly. Do you mind if I pull one again!” “Fine go ahead” I say bringing the cup to my lips and taking another sip of my green tea. I grin at her with my eyebrows raised as she pulls one of my coils and it springs back up, her eyes glimmer, her mouth is open a little completely consumed in the task as her wide green eyes follow the spring of the curl. Haha I have to let out a laugh it’s always so funny the fascination she has with my hair. But then again I am the only mix raced girl working here, I just happened to move somewhere where there were not many black or mixed girls around. I’m sure that’s why Marea hired me, she couldn’t stop touching my hair after our meeting finished and would even get the entire office to swarm around me to play with the coils haha, I couldn’t believe I was surrounded by adults. Was too funny, all even the middle-aged men too. Just then I realise there’s only ten minutes until break is over and I must meet my boss’ brother soon. “So, who are you about to see now?”  Michelle asks pulling away smiling at herself and at the floor, she has such a cute shyness to her I laugh again. “Oh, Marea’s brother apparently.” “Wow that should be interesting.” “Yeah, I’m curious myself, of everything. I wonder if they’re anything alike. Say you should come out with me sometime Michelle it’ll be fun! I think you need it more than me at this point, find you a guy with nice curly hair.” I wink at her “Don’t tease me, I can’t help it haha, well if this guy is anything like his sister he’ll be bossy and confident and warm, I bet their like twins.” “I know but I can’t help it, just too funny, every day you come in to play with my hair. But you may be right, I wonder if he’ll have white hair just like Marea.”  “I wonder if that’s her natural hair or if she dyes it.” “Honestly same, and if he’s anything like his sister like you say I wonder if he’s attractive.”  Michelle was taking a sip of her coffee when she spluttered slightly, her eyes widened, and she stood still. What the hell is wrong with her and what is she looking at, maybe the same guy wore his shirt backwards or something… oh.. I turn my head but when I think of it, it may have been slow motion. I tried to keep my mouth from gaping, my lips felt dry suddenly I licked them forgetting my red lipstick, shit  who is that.. He walked in head held high, his head looking to the side, his eyes were a piercing icy blue, his hair snowy white, his lips rosy pink, his mouth was slightly open, I could see he too had porcelain teeth and beautiful skin just like his sister’s. His hands were in his pockets, he wore a crisp shirt and a thin overcoat with dark swirly and silver patterns. He seemed almost old fashioned, but young, another thing he shares in common with Marea. Our eyes met for a second, he froze,  his face to the side a little his mouth closed now, his chin rose a little and he looked me up and down licked his lips but then he saw Michelle and his eyes widened a little and he bit his lower lip giving her a small but noticeable smirk. Michelle blinked rapidly holding her mug by her lips she said “Lisa.. this must be-” “Erin! You actually came.” Marea rushed toward him with her arms open in surprise and then she went formal and said in her professional voice. “Well I’m glad you came, when I didn’t hear you get up this morning I assumed you were feeling unwell brother.” He glanced up to her then looked down “Well you didn’t make it easy for me now did you…  Sister- “hearing his voice made hairs stand up on my skin, as though warning me to be very cautious but why?  I was comfortable in it, His voice was smooth, crisp it was deep and flowed so perfectly. I could not help but realise how they spoke, they sounded old fashioned somehow, must be their background. But he was not even staring at Marea he was staring at Michelle, her gaze was transfixed that even when I thought she was blinking she wasn’t, her eyes looked watery almost. Her cheeks were quite pink, I tried to conceal a giggle. Marea stood there with her hands on her hips just looking at him, but her facial expression worried me because she had concern written across her face, her eyes appeared sad. She dropped her arms and she went to say something but was cut short when abruptly he stood up and walked over to Michelle he put his hand out to her. “Hello miss, are you my therapist today?” he put his hand out to her as though to shake it, she placed it slowly in his and he slowly brought her hand to his lips and kissed it. Michelle dropped her cup to the bin; aim was so perfect, and she was not even looking. They both looked at each other he raised an eyebrow slightly waiting for her response, he was transfixed on her. “Michelle is her name; you have Miss Storm today.” Marea from the front of the room clearly annoyed. “And next time brother at least asks what her name is, that’s common courtesy” she gave him an annoyed smirk and narrowed her eyes a little before smiling at me and saying .“Lisa I want you to meet my younger brother Erin, Erin this is Lisa.” Wow I got the feeling that the comment Marea had just made cut deep, at least ask her name is what she said. Oh dear.. He let go of Michelle’s hand standing up right I looked into his eyes, pain, no, grief, loss, lost, lust. He smirked at Marea “Sincerest apologies Miss Storm.” His tone shocked me It was so rich and sweet at the same time, his icy blue eyes looked into mine. I crossed my arms and smiled raising my chin to meet his eyes confidently, he smirked and let out a quick breath.   “No need to apologise Mr Withers, would you like to follow me please my office is this way?” I was smiling now.. I felt the energy stirring inside me, now is not the time. His expression was just as unreadable as Marea’s. He nodded his head. “Yes of course.” Was his voice that deep before? The words still came out smooth but there was something else lurking behind them, this felt intense. Marea paid no attention to it, whilst Michelle was grinning at me, she strutted off winking at me and making a little gesture towards Erin without him noticing.
