Chapter three

He followed coolly into my office, as he walked behind me I felt light almost airy with him behind me now. He had his hands in his pockets and closed the office door, He looked into my eyes, cool and calm. “Please sit down” I gestured to the comfy chair “Please do Miss Storm.” He gestured towards the office chair holding his hand out towards it, I walked towards it, and in those moments we walked around each other we starred into each other’s eyes, his eyes were so beautiful, I’d never seen any quite like them before. I sat down with my leg crossed over the other one, I leant forward and cupped my hands over one knee. He sat down in the wooden chair carefully his eyes still on mine, his lips parted slightly, he kept his posture straight but leaned slightly with one leg crossed widely over the other. Looking at him from head to toe he dressed smartly, his shoes were a shiny dark brown leather, he looked like he was a teacher, I wondered what his profession was. “How are you feeling today? Mr-“ He laughed softly saying “There’s really no need for that Miss Storm, you can call me Erin.” He gave me a slight nod. “What’s your name?” “ Okay I’m Lisa. How are you today?.” “Mostly good, but really I’m feeling curious.” “Nice, what are you curious of?” “ You ever get the sense something fated will happen? I felt curious in meeting you actually and seeing how Marea is running things here, I’ve heard so much about this place.” “Oh okay, I’m not sure I have, are you a firm believer in fate Erin?” “Yes, I do, I believe we make our own fate Miss Storm.” His pale blue eyes gleamed as he said it, in that moment the sun light hit him brightly through the window, there he shone and glowed, his eyes appeared almost florescent and icy. His lips appeared a darker hue of pink. There was a sense of sadness in his eyes as he spoke, as though it was always there. He got up and pulled out some paper and took a pen out of my pencil case. He sat back down and began sketching, “Do you know about Facinare’s folklore?” He said it brightly, quickly changing the subject he said. “I love your crimson skirt Miss Storm, matches your lips, I love the colour red, especially on women.” He winks at me. “No, I don’t, thank you I tend to fluctuate between the colours red, purple and blue. But I do love black as well, I like your shirt and thin waist coat, I like the nice style and patterns it’s unique.” I smile at him. “Yes, I bet you find me and my sister unique.” He said it as he walked from behind me and sat in his chair. “Yes, it’s beautiful I love uniqueness stands out from the rest.” looking intently at my face for a few seconds he then asked me ”Have you ever heard of the immortal being?” “No” “But you know of vampires, werewolves that sort of thing?” He looked at me sometimes as he spoke, his hand was moving fast. In this light I could see his hair in detail, his hair was curly, the curls were larger than mine about the size and length of two pence coins. Some curls rested on his forehead while most of them were held perfectly around the top of his head, the sides of his head were shaved. The light reflected off each curl individually making it appear as though his hair glowed. He was extremely attractive it was almost in slow motion his eyes came up and met mine. The energy began to fill me and the whole room, it was almost overwhelming for me, but it was as though his energy met mine, I felt them crash and boom together. I saw colours of blue and grey as they clashed with my orange energy. His energy felt static and fuzzy, it felt warms around me but a little dangerous at the same time, it made my hair stand up slightly on my skin. “Well, an immortal is a being that posses’ great abilities according to this town’s folklore. They can live forever but after a certain age they have to survive off of certain magic. If they choose to stay purely immortal their abilities get stronger as they age, they reach their peak usually at the age of twenty-five. A problem is finding a way to live with emotions like love, regret, anger jealously all these emotions become a lot stronger in immortals. These myths were once well known but are only known in this town.” He spoke carefully, whilst his hand moved quickly, maybe he was sketching from memory. Whenever he looked at me when he spoke his pupils restricted. Restriction in pupils can usually mean hate or dislike. Or deep concentration. “I can’t say I’ve ever heard of an immortal; I know about vampires and werewolves.” I was watching him sketch he was watching me, looking at my hair and then turning back to his piece of paper, his hands moved amazingly fast. “Eventually everything becomes mythical stories or legends” “That’s true, thank you for sharing that sounds interesting, are you interested in folklore?” “Yes, I’ve loved reading stories about them.” He smirked at me lent forward and brushed my curls behind my ear, I tilt my head back in surprise. “You have beautiful hair Miss Storm.” “Thankyou- “ “You have beautiful big eyes too; you would be good at modelling.” He said slowly, oh no this energy, it melts out all over me but strangely his felt so cool “Is your hair naturally white?” I honestly could not help it.. Like it just to wow and I need to distract myself from wanting him closer to me, ugh. “Yes, rare gene” He looked amused, perhaps at my reaction and avoidance of his compliments Wow so young and yet “Have you always had white hair?” “Yes, Miss Storm” He was looking at me with a small side smile his eyes were intense, he uncrossed his leg, his shoes shone like marble. He bends forward slowly peering into my eyes until he is about two inches from my face, his eyes flicker from my mouth to my nose to my eyes, his breathing is calm I can feel his faint breaths as he stares intensely into my eyes.  I don’t panic I just keep calm; he has light specks of green and grey in his blue eyes which made them appear so icy blue. He’s practically leaning over me staring into my eyes, I hear his pen click I close my eyes as he does something really unexpected he traces my lips with his pen then sits back down. “Ah that should do it.” He smiles slightly his voice sending a strong vibration through me; he looks satisfied at his sketch. Before I can say anything further he hands me the sketch he did, and I could not believe that he had did this in only twenty minutes! He had drawn a perfect life like picture of me, it looked almost as though someone had taken a photo of me in a moment then turned it black and white. He really emphasised my curls, eyes, and lips, what is more is he had used the bit of lipstick he scraped off my lips to colour in the lips he drew. I could feel his eyes examining me as I studied the incredibly detailed portrait of me, he even got my birth mark that is so hard to see on my collar bone unless you’re up close. It made sense why he had been coming close to me and why his pupils had been restricting. He was focussing on my features the whole time, restricted pupils can usually be a sing of anger or hate, I looked up into his eyes and saw a black whole expand just a little into the icy ocean that was his eyes. He starred back into mine. I smile warmly at him. “Wow Erin I couldn’t have thought you were this talented…” He took my hand and placed a light kiss on the back of it. Before pulling me gently out of chair and closer to him. “I don’t think anyone can quite catch your eyes Lisa; they hold something powerful almost magical…Enchanting In them that I just couldn’t re -create. I’m going to paint you as an enchantress one day.” “How kind of you, thanks Erin.” I said smiling brightly. “Woah let’s not get me started on your smile Lisa.” He said winking at me, I would have melted if it was not for my brain reminding me of what Marea said about the way he treats women. “Erin, why do you think Marea sent you to me?” “She probably told you it was because of my behaviour Miss Storm, and she’s right I’m a womanizer miss Storm. I really enjoy women; she tells me it’s all to avoid my issues and that’s it’s an unhealthy habit of mine...” He said it smoothly. “Do you feel you need help?-“He laughs softly at that “A problem for Marea, not me. Although I appreciate it Miss Storm may as well get as much put of this that I can so she can’t say nothing more right?.” “Using women to satisfy one’s need isn’t good” “But who said I was using them?.” His smirk grows a little. “Only naïve women fall for guys like me Miss Storm, if they can’t realise that sooner or later it’s clearly a lesson they need to learn.” I looked into his eyes, there was no emotion, clearly this justifies his behaviour towards a woman’s so-called naivety. “Isn’t that unfair?” “Maybe, but then again when has life ever been truly fair?” “You could be fairer, you’re tricking them.” “Perhaps you’re right Lisa- I could but I just don’t want to.“  “For the record not every pretty woman you’ll meet is naïve and it will take you to meet the wrong one.” He looked down at that the smirk vanished for a split seconded but then he met my eyes with equally matched confidence. “You would have thought I’d have learnt by now.” He steps closer, the movement is so fast I don’t even have time to blink, “ But you’re so beautiful you think you could resist me Miss Storm?.” He looked into my eyes I blushed. He was so close to my face I could feel is breathing, I took a quick step backwards and narrowed my eyes into his. “Without a doubt.” I say boldly eyes intent. He looked into my eyes mirroring my intense stare, he took my hand pulling me slightly towards him which made me slightly stumble into him, he caught me, he smelled of roses and fresh washing. “You amuse me Miss Storm.” My day ends at 4pm, my last client leaves at 3:50 pm. I’m getting ready to leave and push my chairs neatly into the table and spin around to see Marea standing behind me. “OH! I wish you’d stop doing that Marea.” I say nervously… She stands with her arms folded and stares into my eyes whilst giving me a side smile. “Don’t be such a scared cat Lisa.” She walks past me peering into the room, I sense a hint of  worry in her expression, she touches the wooden chair, the one that Erin had sat in.. Did she know he sat there? “How was it? - How is he?” she would not look at me, just kept her hand on the chair “He seemed alright actually, we didn’t really talk about much I just wanted to make sure he felt comfortable before I asked any questions. He told me about these magical beings called immortals. I found it all mysterious. Oh, and he also sketched this!”  I showed her Erin’s detailed sketch of me, she took it and looked it over with a sad smile. “He’s always been good with art and telling stories, he really captured you here. Wow your lips are the exact red shade in this image.” “Yeah, he uh borrowed some- “Her eyes widened “You let him touch your lipstick! I hope he didn’t ruin it” “No, he uh, he used the edge of his pen and traced my lips with it..” Marea stared at me and then her head went back, and she laughed! “Don’t look so worried Lisa, I did warn you about him, he’s so bloody eccentric, just like him.” I smiled at her, but something was worrying me about her current energy and mood, something just seemed a little off. “Marea,  is there anything you want to tell me?” Marea pursed her lips, raised her head looking past me almost through me. “Anything you wish to know should come from him Lisa, although I do want to warn you about my brother one last time.” Her eyes pieced through mine, serious. “About what?” “I don’t know how much of this town’s immortal story he told you; we’ve known about these tales for when we were younger. Our parents would tell us the stories to teach us that no matter how powerful you may be or think you may be, everyone is vulnerable to mistakes. There was once a prince, an immortal prince he had the power to reunite all types of magical beings if he could prove he had a good heart. He was known to charming women to get them to do what he wanted with them then leaving them behind. He was heartless but his charms were so good that some women willingly let him use them, this behaviour got so out of hand when the vampire king caught him with his daughter one night. So, the vampire King came up with an agreement, he too wanted to reunite the magical beings in order to keep his people safe. But no one would trust the immortals because they were so powerful and felt sacred by their power however there were not many of them and they were kind of outcasts no one associated with them. But if an immortal could prove their power could be used for good they could earn respect amongst the kingdoms before it was their turn to rule and the whole immortal clan had been praying for that for centuries. The prince being the successor to the throne needed to prove it since he had messed around with the vampires who at the time held the upmost power and importance.” “So, what happened to this immortal prince?” “The prince fell in love, but he was unlucky and what was worse is he acted as though he was unaffected. Like she was just another girl to him, her death meant a part of his soul and spirit died with her. Erin is exactly like the Immortal prince Lisa,” . Marea turns away towards the door she gives me her confident side smile her head heled high and her eyes and hair glowing. “Thank you Lisa, it won’t be easy, but I believe you will be just what my brother needs to get back in touch with his feelings.” And with that she left. My favourite thing when driving home is going down the long straight road that is lined with symmetrical trees, this time of year they are full of light pink blossoms. In the summer, the leaves turn a luscious green, in autumn they are golden shades of brown and yellow and deep reds and in the winter they collect snow and rain on their bare dark branches. It always feels magical.
