The morning light shone through the heavy curtains, casting a golden glow over the room. Sophia stirred, her eyes moist and puffy with the tears from last night. The events replayed in her mind, she remembered how she cried herself to sleep, memory a dagger twisting deeper into her heart. She turned, checking Logan's side of the bed; he was gone. She could hear the faint, distant clinking sounds of dishes and cutleries from the dining room downstairs, “He must be downstairs having breakfast with his parents,” she thought.
