By the time I make it to Yasmine’s building—on foot, because I decided to leave the car a few blocks away so I wouldn’t be seen—I realize that something is wrong.
She’s managed to get free because there are enforcers all over the place.
I turn on my heel and immediately head the other way. s**t. If I’d driven the car here, I’d be caught by now. It’s simple decisions that could truly ruin a man’s life.
I disappear down the road, then head toward the woods. I’ll need to cut through them in order to make it to the mountains. Thankfully, there isn’t anyone behind me, but I’m sure that my presence in town won’t be a secret for much longer.
