EMILY As I slowly wake up, I'm greeted by the comforting embrace of these soft sheets, infused with the scent of my mom's heavenly fabric softener. The sunlight peeks through the partially opened window, casting a warm glow on the left side of my face. I can't resist opening my eyes, only to be met with the sight of my bedroom ceiling, which seems to be spinning in circles. I quickly shut my eyes again to avoid getting dizzy. Ugh, why am I so weak? I always end up getting sick, and it makes me feel utterly useless. My body feels heavy, as if I'm glued to the bed. But I know I have to get up. There's this nagging feeling urging me to do so. I push aside the remnants of a weird dream that has already faded from memory, and then I hear a splashing sound outside the window. Curiosity pique
