Chapter 16

It was a rather uneventful day, and Ivy prepared for her evening lectures. She looked around the room one more time...her roommate, who was taking an afternoon nap, quietly closed the door as she headed for her class.

Before she could reach the door to the lecture hall, she could already hear incoherent noises from within, this joint class was going to be a rather noisy one she thought as she walked through the door, the sight she met was one of the classroom filled with students...like a lot of students

She didn't know if her coursemate had managed to keep a seat for her as she had requested.

As she scanned the classroom for a vacant seat, she caught a hand waving, she smiled as she recognised who it was, she walked to the hands. as she was walking, she felt a pair of eyes on her but she didn't pay heed to it, it's probably her coursemates and the other students. she reached the hand that signaled to her" hey simon thank you so much, i thought you wouldn't manage to keep an extra seat" she said as she sat on the empty chair beside him... which seemed like the only empty chair remaining, if more student were still coming they might have to stand

" It's nothing, I knew it would be hard to find a seat in a joint class and you didn't come early" the boy who also looked around her age replied

"I was having my beauty sleep" they both chuckled. Before more conversation continued the class suddenly grew quiet as the lecturer entered

" Good evening students" she said as she walked to the stand, she continued

"Today the department of Radiography is with us and I think that's a good thing"

"I'd like us to open our general chemistry textbook to page 59, as that is where our topic and project will be from.

After talking and explaining some things to the students, the lecturer closed the books she had been using and turned to face the students entirely

" I believe you all know your department numbers, right?" she asked

"Yes ma'am" the voices chorused

"Good because now I'm going to assign a group project to you all" the woman said as she brought out her register

"This project contains a lot of marks, don't miss it for anything and I want everyone to actively participate" she looked up at the students to make sure they got her then continued

"The combined total for this class is 122 students, so there's going to be 10 groups presenting their projects on different days"

"Each group contains approximately 12 students from both departments" the lecturer continued listing the protocols

Ivy turned to Simon and whispered, "How many marks do you think the project will be?"

"I can't say but I know it's going to be a significant amount, she said so herself" Simon replied

The lecturer's voice came again

"From the Vetmed department number 1to 6 are in group A, and also from the Rad department number 1to 6 are also in group A"

She glanced up to make sure the students were following her and continued

"Numbers 7 to 12 from both the Rad department and the Vetmed department are in group B"

"You all can now choose amongst yourselves those going to do the research and collect data, those going to do physical examination and those going to collect all results, edit, proofread and submit it to my office. Is that understood?"

"Yes ma'am" the students chorused

The lecturer glanced at her book again and kept listing the students' numbers until they were all assigned to a group

" now students, each group's research project is different make sure to participate as the leader of the group(whom you'll choose yourselves) will report to me if anyone didn't participate"

"Before I leave you students, I'll advise you to stay behind today and assign roles to yourselves, which will also help you to know your group mates. Any questions?"

"No questions ma'am"

"You have two weeks, Group J will present on the first day, have a lovely rest of your day" the woman said as she packed her things and left

The course representatives from both departments started calling the names of each group member and separating them

"Adams Bridget"

"Anthony Sharon"

................. " Brian David, you all are in group A, come to this side

Ivy was still sitting with Simon while waiting for their names to be called, the course reps kept on listing out names and telling each group to choose their leader

Ivy watched the defying opinion and little arguments as some students debated on who to lead. meanwhile the course reps kept on listing the names

"Rapheal moses"

" Reynolds Peter"

.............." Richards Ivy, Richmond Emmanuel, Rosewoods Seraphina, Ryan Mary, and Samuel phoebe you are all in group H"

Ivy who had already stood up to go to the group's position turned as she heard the familiar name

no it couldn't be, it couldn't be who she was thinking

Just then, the familiar and easily recognisable face stood up and met Ivy's eyes... her heart skipped a beat. How didn't she notice her throughout the entire class? She didn't realise that they had both been staring at each other till Seraphina reached her side and grinned.
