Chapter #2 Contracts and Blood

1582 Words
I sat on my vanity stool in the corner of my room, curling my dark brown hair in front of the mirror. The red lipstick I had applied a few minutes ago was already smudging as I sipped my drink. My layered curls flowed down the back of my robe as I stood and walked toward my walk-in closet. Turning on the light, I immediately felt at ease. A gorgeous 11-foot chandelier hung in the center of the two-story vintage closet. Glass wardrobes lined the walls, and a circular glass table displayed all of my jewelry. I climbed the stairs to one wardrobe, pulling out a dark red tube dress with a transparent flare at the bottom. I slipped off my robe and stepped into the dress, pairing it with black Louis Vuitton heels. A pair of small gold hoops and a layered gold chain necklace completed the look. Satisfied, I made my way to the front door—but stopped abruptly when I heard noise in the kitchen. Quietly, I drew the gun from the strap on my leg and peeked around the corner. A figure moved inside the kitchen. I crept behind them and pressed the gun to the back of their head. "AH!" the person screamed. I instantly recognized the voice. "Cleo, what the hell are you doing in my fridge?" I said coldly, rolling my eyes as I tucked the gun back into its strap. "I thought I'd surprise you," he said nervously, chuckling. "How were you going to surprise me if you were in my fridge?" I arched an eyebrow, unimpressed. "Well... I got hungry," he said, his smooth voice laced with amusement. I rolled my eyes and walked to the front door, opening it. "Out. I have a meeting, and I don't want to meet my house half-empty because someone is always hungry," I said sharply. He grinned but stepped outside anyway. I followed, shutting the door behind me. Pressing the elevator button, I waited as it descended to my floor. "Who do you have a meeting with?" Cleo asked, trying to hide his curiosity behind a smile. He always had that damn smile. "The Valmont family," I replied flatly, half-smiling but serious. He raised an eyebrow. "Why are you meeting with them? Aren't they dangerous?" His tone was sharp, but the fear underneath was obvious. I scoffed. "And so am I. I don't owe anyone an explanation." He muttered something under his breath as the elevator doors opened. I stepped out immediately, walking toward Elena, who was waiting in the lobby. "Took you long enough," she said, rolling her eyes as she stood. I scanned the room, my eyes locking on the group of people dressed in tailored suits and dresses. That must be The Valmont's. I rolled my eyes and walked over, my heels clicking against the marble floor. A man dressed in a black tailored suit with a smoky red shirt underneath and black shiny Clark shoes stood up and cleared his throat. "Good afternoon, you must be Mr. Duval's wife, a pleasure to meet such a beauty." He said in his deep husky smooth voice, extending out a hand. I arched my eyebrow confused about what he meant by Mr. Duval, because as far as I know I've never been married a day in my life. "Excuse me, I'm sorry if my assistant didn't make it clear to you." I'd take a side glance at Elena. "But I'm Ms. Duval the owner of the company that you are meeting there is no man behind this company," I said in a calm tone showing a bit of attitude, I rolled my eyes and shook his hand. "But it is a pleasure to meet you." His arm warm and it smells like he poured the whole bottle of Jergen's lotion on it. I pulled my hand away gently, trying not to seem mean. "Well we shouldn't waste any time, how about we go to my penthouse and discuss business, heh." He said chuckling, he sounded like an old rich man when he chuckled. "Yes, you lead the way." I said lightly in a soft tone of voice. I'd glance at Elena fixing her jacket and Cleo goofing off. I don't even know why he is here, he lives on the other side of town, I thought to myself, while rolling my eyes. ————————————————————————————————————————————- A few moments later, as Elena and I entered Mr. Valmont's penthouse we was greeted by a remarkable view the display of the night from his glass windows that went from the floor to the ceiling was out of this world. He did a gestur with his hand signaling us to sit in a black luxurious morden couch. I sat down and crossed my legs, Elena followed couple seconds after a hesitant look on her face as she sat in the chair uncomfortably with her clipboard in her hands. He sat down across from us with a smirk on his face, crossing his legs and leaning back in the black armchair. "Talk, how will your company up our sales." He said in his dark deep toned voice. "Hm, it won't just up your sales it would up all of the trafficking you do." I said in my flat calm tone. He pulled out his gun, resting the hand he held it with on the right armrest of the chair his other hand rests in his pocket his slicked black hair a bit messed but it seems like thats how it's supposed to be. His brown eyes locks on mine, wondering how I know about the trafficking he does, bastard is probably wanting to kill me now, I thought to myself rolling my eyes. He chuckled dark, pointing his gun directly in the middle of my forehead. "Little girl, now you got to explain to me how you know that about my company." He said in a cold voice. I leaned back in the chair keeping my legs crossed. "You're pointing a very heavy metal at me, the dangers of it is very dangerous. I would hate to have to show you, that Im not a little girl even though it's very tempting right now." I said in a cold flat calm tone while smiling. I pulled the pink Sig Sauer P365 from the strap under my dress and point it to his chest. "Hm." He said in his deep voice in a light dark chuckle, he would walk around the circle middle table separating us keeping his gun positioned just directly in the middle of my forehead. I could see from the corner of my eye how Elena was sinking in the couch, she was shaking with fear. "Let's talk, because my gun does a lot of talking." I smilied while I talked in my calm flat tone of voice. "Explain.." He said sharp and cold, while placing his finger on the trigger, noticing his action I placed my finger on the trigger as well. "You are no secretive man and I did my research." I said calmly and sharp. He nodded and put his gun back in his pocket, he would back around the table and sit down in the black armchair, resting his arms on the armrest of the chairs. "Okay, tell me how would you help my business." He said calm and relaxed. I kept my gun close setting it down on my lap, Elena fixed in the chair clearing her throat passing me the files from her clipboard. I rested the files on the table, my eyes signaling him to look at the business deal. "Here are the key aspects and details of the business agreement." I said calmly, staring at him blank watching as he picked up the papers and flip through them, he cleared his throat three times reading them, I was starting to wonder if he was okay. "Seems accurate, yet why would I invest money in a deceased company." He arched his eyebrow, looking at me with a curious stare as he spoke in his normal deep voice. "Because it will act as a storage space for your operations, you can fix it up and all of the things that you may traffic can store inside the building. The company already gave up on the building, so nobody will think illegal entities will be going on inside a deceased to exist building." I said in a flat tone. He chucked darkly and deep. "You're just a little devil aren't you, but you have proven your point." He said in his deep sharp voice clearing his throat, he picked up the pen and signed his signature on the paper. I smiled and prompt over the table and extended my hand. "Pleasure doing business with you." I said in a soft tone, he took my hand in his and shook it. I got up from the chair and stood, Elena followed right behind me I tucked my gun back in the strap. I looked down at the paper reaching for it, when I picked it up a drop of blood slid down to my shoe. "Bloody hell, he signed with blood." I muttered under my breath and then a gun fired.
