"How did it go?" mother asked as I settled down for breakfast.
"It was not Elias like we thought but guess what? It was his son, Nicholas Perkins." I murmured as I sat down.
"He has a son? This man is surely one dangerous dark horse." Camila muttered.
"I was surprised too but it seems we need a change in plan." I mentioned as I stared at her.
"How was he, Elias' son?" she asked.
"Not much older, he is totally different from his father. He is a very ambitious man and good at business." I replied.
"Great," she said excitedly.
"What do you mean mother?" I asked curiously.
"We have his pawn, we are going to use it to our use." she muttered as she sliced the bread.
I stared at her curiously trying to figure out what she means by her words.
"Look at it Patricia, he is Elias' son, that means he can lead us to the king. We will use him at our gain." she smiled at me thoughtfully.
I finally caught up with her smirking at her plan. She was absolutely right about Nicholas, I could use him to get to his father. I just had to play my cards safely because this was a different game I was playing.
I was no longer playing cards but I was playing chess which is known as one of the most difficult games. I smiled with victory as it was a matter of time before I finally made my revenge work.
When I reached office, it was the same havoc as usual but this time it was different. Usually employees would be busy with their work but this time, they were staring curiously at me. I was used to the stares from people but these were different.
Somewhere staring at my office and murmuring to themselves and I was also curious to find that something that was causing a scene at my office. When I opened my office, I was surprised to find a bouquet of pink and white roses with daisies. No wonder my employees were staring peculiarly at me.
In my years of being the boss of Nielsen Corp, I have never received flowers let alone have official relationships with anyone. This was new to anyone and to me.
"I am sorry m..."
I halted my new intern, Lillian with my hand as I slowly picked up the card.
Start your day with a piece of me so you won't have to think of me.
Nicholas P
I gestured for Lillian to get out and I walked nonchalantly to my chair the note still in my hand. Surely this man was crazy for sending these flowers. What was he trying to insinuate?
I dialed his number and waited for three seconds before he picked up.
"Guess you have got my note if I get this call." he said in an amused tone.
"What is this Nicholas? Are you trying to bribe me with flowers?" I asked calmly.
"Is it working?" Nicholas asked but I could hear a hint of tease in his voice.
"No, you can't bribe me Nicholas." I said seriously.
"You know I don't need to bribe you for business but for your heart, yes."
I am sure my heart skipped a beat hearing his voice say those words. I remembered our plan immediately and I almost jumped up in excitement because the plan was a master piece and Nicholas was just falling in place.
"Don't you think you will have to work harder next time?" I flirted back with a flattering smile on my face.
"A date would change your mind then, it always does." he said confidently.
"Has it worked for you on women?" I asked.
"Yeah, I end up being laid on the first date you know and I bet I could by you too if I play my cards right." he teased me.
"Good luck Sherlock," I replied rereading his card smirking at myself.
"I don't need it Patricia, I am a man of ambition." he replied with a chuckle.
"Okay, we will have to see about that." I smirked to the phone.
"So did you love the flowers?" Nicholas asked.
"Yes, my favorites." I replied.
It wasn't a lie because the flowers were my favorite. My mother always grew these flowers back in Pennsylvania and they were beautiful. I don't even know how he guessed.
"Good to hear then, so a date it is?" he asked.
"You are not backing down I see." I said amazed.
"Not until you say yes, no."
"And what if I tell you I am not interested in men?" I teased.
"What you are trying to say is that you are lesbian. I can change your mind then Patricia. I am a man of all seasons." he retorted wisely.
"Let's see what you can do then."
"Is it a date then?"
"Yes,"
"I knew I could be persuading and irresistible." Nicholas said cockily.
I smiled in return to his cockiness.
"After the meeting on Friday, a date then?" he asked.
"Don't be so sure Nicholas." I said.
"Just say the damn answer Patricia. No need beating around the bush. This is not a business deal."
He was now becoming impatient and with the confident tone in his voice, he surely knew I would agree and he was right, I had no choice when everything on the plan was just falling in place.
"Yes," I replied.
"Good now Patricia, see you on Friday. Don't miss me too much."
"And why would I do that?"
"Because darling I am what you have been looking for." he whispered huskily through the phone causing the hairs on my neck to stand.
"Take care Patricia." With that he switched off the phone.
I was glad my plan was falling in place. Nicholas would be the greatest pawn in the game because he was closest to his father. I needed him and dating him would be the very quickest way to his father. I had to make sure I acted real like a person with real feelings.
I ordered Lillian to bring a vase with water for the flowers.
"Miss Patricia, I am sorry to interrupt but the flowers are beautiful." Lillian said as she put the flowers in the vase.
"I agree Lillian." I replied looking at her.
"Are they from your boyfriend?" she asked.
"I am not sure, why don't we say a friend."
I am not sure Nicholas and I were really something now because we weren't dating yet.
"He is a man right?" Lillian asked.
"Yeah,"
I actually like my new intern so much because not only is she highly intelligent and reliable but she is confident and doesn't fear me. She doesn't fear to voice her opinions because I am her boss. I really like her a lot in just a short time.
Friday came in no time and it would be dishonest for me to say that I wasn't excited. I was very much excited that I felt the week was longer than usual.
As we sit in in the board room with my lawyer and personal assistant with my intern and Nicholas with his lawyer and personal assistant.
"Here are the papers for you to sign and I guess you have already read it with your lawyer." my lawyer Pedro said.
"Yes and my client agrees with the terms and conditions." his lawyer replied.
"Then we have a deal Mr. Perkins." Pedro said.
I signed on the papers and Nicholas signed too but most of the time, his eyes were on me which was awkward to say. The way he stared at me like I was a prize.
"Guess we are done here," we stood up.
Pedro shook hands with Nicholas's lawyer, Nicholas and his assistant.
We were given a copy of the contract and the others excused themselves leaving us alone.
"Congratulations," I said as I collected my file.
"I told you already Patricia, I didn't fly all the way here to the states to lose this deal." he smirked at me.
"Shouldn't I say that you were lucky Nicholas." I said in a mocking tone.
"We both know I wasn't just lucky, I deserved the shot and you know that clearly." he grinned to me teasingly.
"Like a business woman, this deal was perfect for you." he said.
He was right because that was true. One needn't look it in a way that their sales were falling but in the case of widening the business. It was a perfect choice for growth and development of Nielsen Corp. We owned at least almost half the share, 45% was a great deal.
If only he knew what was going on in my mind, he wouldn't be so proud of himself. He was bound for a great fall one him and his father will not see coming. They will not be able to rise from because the fall will be hard.
"Are you prepared for tonight?" Nicholas asked sensually.
The way his eyes shone when he smiled at me caused a warmness on my heart I couldn't explain.
"I guess," I shrugged.
I needed the anticipation from him and show him that I wasn't interested. I needed to play my game safe.
"Bring the natural woman just like I like her." he said.
"You know I am not good person to follow orders." I challenged c*****g a brow at him.
Nicholas stepped closer his greenish eyes looking menacingly. He trapped me against the table his eyes staring right in mine. I didn't know but immediately it was like my body responded to his proximity. My all senses and nerves were alert as I inhaled the amazing cologne again.
He was staring at my lips and then to my face and I knew he wanted to kiss me. I immediately pushed him away lightly.
"Did that convince you?" he smirked at me.
"We'll just see tonight." I replied smirking at him.
