Chapter 2: Not So Good Sunday (2) *** “Hey wait… where did you get the latest one? Mason hasn’t even given it to me yet.” Edward complained. “We were at a dinner at Gentleman Corp. and I got it from the CEO.” Ashton explained as he took back his book. “Hm… You’re still meeting up with the CEO?” Edward asked. “I don’t have a good feeling about that guy…” “He’s a really good person.” Ashton replied as he left the book on the table. “Now you want me to teach you some work ethic, right?” He asked. “Sure…” Edward he seemed motivated to try and work in his brother’s company. Mainly because his lover told him he should do it and the other reason is because Ashton wants retire from working for good. “Let’s start with the basic things you’ll have to do… which is overlooking the work process, making sure all the salaries, taxes, are paid, making sure the accounting office has everything settled by the end of every quarter….” Ashton began listing off several things but he noticed his brother had a thoughtful expression on his face. “You listening?” “I’m listening, continue.” Edward snapped back to reality with his brother’s words and looked at him. “This isn’t going to work if you don’t focus on what I’m telling you...” Ashton said as he sighed deeply. “If you want to talk about something I’ll hear you out.” He continued in a serious voice. “Brother, I just don’t think I should be taking over your company…” Edward said as he moved a bit closer to his elder sibling. “Again with this… Ed, why are you so hesitant about it? I’ve never seen you hesitate so much before.” Ashton said as he looked at his brother who wore an unreadable expression on his face. “…….” Edward didn’t have a response to his brother’s words. Ashton sighed. “Listen, I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want to. I was thinking of leaving the company in your hands regardless so isn’t it best for you to learn to work in it?” He asked. “Ash, why don’t you lead the company with Ethan? I’m certain he’ll be more than willing to do it.” Edward replied after a long while of silence. “Do you really hate the idea of working in my company so much?” Ashton asked in a slightly annoyed voice. “I just don’t think it’s what’s going to make you happy.” Edward stood up after uttering those words and headed for the door. “Just think on it for a while, I’ll go back for now.” He said as he closed the door behind himself. ‘This really is a bad day…’ Ashton thought to himself as he rested his head in the palm of his hand. ‘Working alongside Ethan… It’s not like I haven’t thought about that before, I just don’t know what he’s going to say about it.’ Moving his wheelchair to his office room, Ashton went to his desk and opened his laptop. After working for several hours, namely checking stock prices, dealing with company work through phone and email, he felt exhausted by the end of it. People were calling him non-stop for the rest of the day, not to mention he had a fight with his childhood friend that day and on top of it all his brother refuses to help him in company matters. It was truly a not so good Sunday… ‘Gosh… I was supposed to be taking a break today…’ Ashton thought about going to sleep for a bit but that wouldn’t really help him much to get over the headache that the day’s events had caused him. Even though he thought he’d began walking down the right path, there were still many obstacles in his way.  “Why can’t things just be simple…” Ashton muttered to himself as he sat in his wheelchair. Navigating around on his own had long become bothersome to him but he didn’t dare complain. Most of the time he’d at least have Ethan by his side but today his lover wasn’t going to be back until late at night so he could do nothing but either work or wait for the other’s return. ‘Should I just offer Ethan to live with me again?’ Ashton wondered to himself, his lover had rejected his offers several times as to not burden him. But quite frankly the man in the wheelchair’s life would become significantly easier if he had his lover by his side all the time. It was certainly going to be the same for Ethan as well so why would he refuse so many times? Ashton was lost in his thoughts for a while longer until he heard the front door opening. It was definitely his lover that had just gotten back. The man in the wheelchair moved to go outside his room to the hallway with excitement clearly visible in his expression. ‘Somehowe I want to see Ethan right now more than ever… To hopefully make this bad day a good one.’ Ashton thought to himself as he navigated his wheelchair outside his office room. However at the front door the person that had just came in wasn’t his lover… It was his childhood friend instead…
