The Legendary Tree

Heat was too much that it was almost impossible to breathe. Sweat drops dripped one by one from Cara's neck and temples and all over her body. She could barely open her eyes. Cara saw herself in a house that was burning. Everything was falling apart from the ceiling, The doors, furnitures, chandeliers. Everything was falling down with a loud thud. In a room next to her she saw the back of a man in suit amidst of all the fire and chaos. She hurried past all the fiery ruins because she felt she must save him somehow. "Hello, get out of there, You'll die!!!." she screamed. The man stood there, still turned his back on her, giving her no response. "Hey! Are you crazy??? can you hear meeeee??? Come with me or you will die!!!!" She screamed again! The man gave her no response. She hurried past a door that just exploded, She was terrified, But there is no time to be afraid, She had to take him out. She struggled through the scorching hot floor towards him. Her feet felt like it was on a hot burning coals. She touched the man from behind and he turned around at her. Those emerald eyes... Aiden! He smiled at her. It was supposed to be warm but somehow it terrified her to death. Cara woke up from a nightmare as usual. Why the heck did she see Aiden in her dream. She'd always seen a man with emerald eyes but never in her wildest dreams could she imagine actually meeting one. Maybe she dreamt about Aiden coz she thought about him a lot before she went to sleep. She was tired. She wished if she could get a goodnight sleep withought any nightmares. She tried to sleep again, but she was too disturbed and afraid to sleep again. So she piled up some good books from her little library to read till the morning. Even when she was reading, she could feel her heightened senses which made her hard to focus. So she tossed the books around and got up annoyed. "Its 4 AM. Goddddd!!!!!" She had always thought why she was cursing at god everytime she was annoyed, not that she believed in a god but having someone to blame for all the sleep she lost makes her feel better! She decided to calm herself down because that is the only thing that will work. She played her most favourite spotify playlist, with all the Taylor Swift songs to play to her heart's content!!!! "She wear short skirts, I wear T-shirt..." she danced till sunrise with a big swiftie heart of hers. It was morning so she decided to go out take a morning walk. She quickly wrapped a coat around her since she guessed it would be cold outside in the morning. She also plugged in her headphones with some sweet music playing... she hummed the music as she walked out of the house. She always loved mornings given the fact that she was an early bird. As she walked through the side walks, she noticed a huge banyan tree, protected with tiled concrete walls. It seemed strange to see a huge tree standing tall after all these years and attempts to cut it down and redevelopment plans. Locals say there were paranormal forces protecting the tree and that till date nobody was able to touch it. Some says ghosts, some say spirits, and some say genies. Anyways, its all laughable to the core! Somebody might have made up a story to protect the tree, that's all!!! Still the tree gave off a strange aura that it was irresistible. So Cara decided to pay the legendary tree a visit. As she stood there glaring at the tree, a breeze rushed in from somewhere, her hair in the air flowing, Cara felt a presence behind her back. She turned around but she found no one. "Do you know the legend behind this tree?" The sound sent a chill down her spine, it came from the side of the tree, she turned back and froze. Aiden! She looked at him as if she saw a ghost. "Why? Is there someth-" "No, I just didnt expect to see you here!!!", Cara cut him off before he could finish saying. "This tree is quite phenomenal and important in the paranormal world." He said gazing at the tree leaving a deep sigh. "Gosh, do you believe in all that stuff!!?" Cara laughed. But he was serious. He didn't laugh but went around the tree examining it. "Okay, how do you know there is a paranormal world?" "I just believe so." He shrugged it off and started minding his business. "Hey, I mean tell me about it, I think it will be am interesting story to hear." Aiden stared at her for some brief moments and continued what he was saying! "Do you know how many people died trying to cut this tree off? Three centuries back a King named Victor first ordered to cut this tree off to build a mansion about here in this exact spot. All the workers who were assigned to cut the tree were dead. No, the legend say that all of them went mad and killed each other with axes that were meant to cut the tree off. No matter how many workers king sent to cut this tree, died in the same way. This infuriated the king so he came here himself to cut the tree, but he ended up killing himself!" "Wow!!!I didnt this tree had a rich infamous history." "The thing is that people marked this tree as cursed and no one dared to cut this tree off since the death of the king. Some say this tree is a portal between the two worlds, some say this tree holds the soul of a gruesome witch, and so and so on... so many tales. And here it goes, our superstion magnet grandma tree!" He chuckled. He had so much passion while telling the story and Cara was all ears even though she thought it was ridiculous. They walked together through the side walk chatting up and laughing. "So when did you get interested in superstitions?" "You know I myself is a superstion, then why wouldn't I be interested in superstions?" "ahahaha... you are so funny! what are you vampire? werewolf? ghost? genie???" Cara laughed out loud. So did Aiden. "Hahaha... you got it!", said Aiden. "okay, thats all for today.. i gotta go home, I never thought I'd meet you here, but still.. This was really a good morning." "Sure, for me too. Can I get your number? we can keep in touch!" "Yeah, I'll give you a call." Aiden typed his number on her phone and she gave him a call. "Got it, Ummm.. Cara?" "Yes, Aiden?" "Where do you live, for real?" "Ummm, maybe you should stalk me and findout!", She winked at him. "Woah, woo", Aiden exclaimed. "Maybe I should. do that, yeah?" Cara simply shrugged and walked away and Aidens green emerald eyes gleamed some kind of intention. Cara had reached home and she recieved a message on phone. "Look through the window!" Did Aiden actually stalked her? Did he find her home? Her heart skipped few beats as she raced towards the window. "Cara Elizabeth! I found you!" Aiden called out loudly. Cara rushed to the front door and looked for him ouside where he was standing. But she found no one! She summoned Aiden's name but to no avail. 'Woah, yesterday I dreamed about him and now I'm hallucinating! what did this guy do to me?' thought Cara as she hopelessly went back inside her house.
