Chapter 3: Failed Acting

Lizzy's pov I was stunned, but Dorthy's mind was already made up. "Are you doing it or not? It's not like you have a say, you know." She said. "All right, who is he and why should I be the one getting married to him?" I asked her. She wrinkled her nose in disgust before she spoke. "Before my parents died, they made an arranged marriage for me to one Alexandro. I heard he is a billionaire, but I don't care. I don't love him. So, you are going there in my place. What you are going to do is to make sure he never gets married to me." I was confused and speechless at the same time. "I don't understand you, Dorthy. First, you said I should get married to someone on your behalf, and now you are saying you don't want him to get married to you. What exactly am I going to do there?" I asked her. "I know you are already dumb, but I didn't know you were this dumb. Simple thing, you are going to impersonate me. You are going to go there as Dorthy Darwin, and then you are going to show a very bad character that will make him lose interest in getting married to me. I expect you to know this thing okay?" She explained harshly. Everything was a big shock to me and still confusing. I knew that going there to impersonate Dorthy would be a big risk that I didn't know if I was willing to take. "See, Dorthy, this is simple. Your parents are dead. You could easily tell him that you don't want the marriage proposal anymore, and then everything would be settled." I suggested to her. She looked at me and rolled her eyes. "Look, there's nothing that can be done about it. I don't know the agreement they made with my parents, but it has to do with family something or a business. Look, I don't care, okay? What I know is that I do not want to get married to Alexandro, and you are going to help me do it without complaint!" She ordered. "And if I don't?" I dared her. She looked at me with a sneer and smirked "Then be ready to be homeless again. And I wonder who will pick you up this time around, like my parents did." She reminded me of my past. I felt like strangling her but when I remembered everything her parents did for me all these years, and I could not get the chance to repay them, I decided to use this as a means of repayment to them for the love and kindness they've shown to me all these years. "Fine, I'll do it! But just know that I'm not doing it because I'm scared of you or anything. I'm only doing it as a way to repay your parents for the help they've rendered to me all these years." I said and I walked out on her. *** I swallowed hard as the Alexandro Mansion stood before me in an intimidating way. The Alexandro Manson was not what I was expecting. Though I knew he was a billionaire or a billionaire rather, I didn't know his house was going to be this intimidating. I shook my head and tried all I could not to drag down the mini skirt Dorthy had forced me to wear. We were told that Mr. Alexandro hated skimpy dresses and that it was a big turn-off for him. 'I pray this works!' I said to myself as I pressed the doorbell button. The door opened and I walked in without greeting the person. "Hello, Alexandro! You are not what I was expecting!" I said. I know that I was acting, but there was an atom of truth in what I said. Mr. Alexandro was not who I was expecting. He was looking fat with a big stomach, looking like an old man with a young body. I wrinkled my nose at him in distrust. "I hope you are prepared for our meeting," I said to him. Mr. Alexandro kept looking at me with shock written all over his face. I believe I was acting well enough, so I walked to the sofa and slumped on it, putting my legs on the white table. He saw my leg on the white table. He quickly rushed to where I was and put them down. "Stop it! You can't be putting your leg on the table. We don't accept such here." He said. "Oh, finally you can talk," I said to him as I forced my leg back on the table. "You don't get to tell me what to do. I will do whatever I like and if we are going to get married, better get used to this attitude of mine!" I shouted at him. "Well, I will relay your message to Mr. Alexandro when he comes back." He said to me. Instantly, my eyes cleared and I jumped off from the chair. "What? You are not Mr. Alexandro?" I asked him. "No, I am Brimley, his chaperone," Brimley said to me. I became instantly embarrassed and wished the ground would open up and swallow me. I had been acting to the wrong person. He was not Mr. Alexandro but was his chaperone. The realization hit me, but then I consoled myself that Mr. Alexandro would get to hear how rude I was from Brimley, so it was not a total loss. "Well, since the person I came to meet is not around, you can tell him that I said he is very, very rude because he asked to meet and he stood me up! tell him that this engagement is over!" I shouted and walking out I shut the door loudly. I heaved a sigh of relief as I got out of the house. I gave Dorthy a call and told her that I was done. I didn't want to go to the house to meet Dorthy again, so I decided to go to a hotel to rest for the night. I didn't know how long I slept but the shrill ringing of my phone brought me out of my sleep. I checked my phone and I saw that it was Dorthy "Hello, what is it?" I asked her. "You did nonsense! Mr. Alexandro is asking for a second meeting. He refused to call off the engagement.!" She announced.
