“What do you want?” I snapped as soon as I swiped the answer button. Darren chuckled lightly.
“Oh come on, baby. Don't be like that. I was checking up on you. Is that such a bad thing?” He drawled and my grip on the phone tightened.
Merely hearing his voice triggered the anger I was trying so.hard to suppress.
“You know I waited for your call throughout yesterday,” he went on.
My lips pressed tightly in a frown. “Why would I call you?”
“There is no need to keep acting tough, Roch. I know how much you love me and I understand that it must be very hard for you to find someone suitable for you. So I thought, maybe I could make things a little easier for you. For old time's sake,” he said and I was practically gritting my teeth together at his sheer audacity.
