The Ballerina Performance 1

1391 Words
Kyle POV Finally, the day of the gala arrived. Thomas informed me that I would have to be present at Lara's performance and later at the campaign launch here in New York. I straighten my Armani suit and fix my hair. Ever since I found out that this gala would be taking place, I've been anxious for the time to come. This is ridiculous, but I can't get that face out of my mind. Maybe it's curiosity getting the better of me. I searched for her on social media, and all could find was information about her as a dancer, nothing personal. How does someone manage to be a star and escape the spotlight? Yes, maybe this is the reason for my curiosity. Certainly, my interest will disappear as soon as I see her face to face. Maybe she's one of those girls who make us lose all interest as soon as they open their mouths to speak or their legs for s*x, I think as I laugh at my own thoughts. Looking at my image in the mirror, I congratulate myself. I am indeed a good piece of meat. I let out a small laugh due to my thoughts. It's time to leave. And here I am. At the door of the New York Opera, in my best outfit and next to my colleagues Dean and Liam, who were also invited. Liam approaches me and I tease him. "Liam, today you even look like a human being in that outfit!", Liam and Dean laugh at my teasing and greet me in a manly hug. "Yeah man, today was shower day" Liam answers me, joking around and whistling to a lady who was passing by. So Shameless! "Someday it had to happen, bro, the shower, it's not every day you come to the NY Opera," Dean answers happily. "I tried to see if I could buy those little binoculars they use in these places.", Liam's serious tone catches our attention. "The ones we see in the movies, you know?", he explains like we were dumb. "For what?" asks Dean, with his smile growing. "Oh Dean, what a question!!!!". Liam says shocked. "To see the dancers better, of course! In movies, people use it. I looked for it but I didn't find any to buy", he says in a serious voice. I confess that I blinked my eyes several times trying not to laugh uncontrollably. I only can imagine him with one of those. Liam is really out of this world but one of my best friends. "I see the three are very excited", Thomas' voice is heard, attracting our attention. "Good night guys. Kyle, Liam, Dean", he says as he greets us. Olga his wife, who is beside him, smiles genuinely as she greets us too. Thomas is in his tux, just like us. Olga is, as always, gorgeous. Her dark blue dress down to her feet and her hair up, makes her seem younger. "I'm really looking forward to seeing Lara! This ballet has received the best compliments and, of course, she and Rob are my favorite dancers!" her enthusiasm catches our attention. "Olga is a reporter for Ballet Glamor Magazine and a ballet fan" explains Thomas sweetly as he kisses his wife's forehead, in a show of affection that makes us all smile. "Yes, I'm a fan of both of them. I've had the pleasure of interviewing them individually and together. They really were a surprise!" she says excitedly, attracting my attention. I turned my body to give her my full attention. "Rob is a very happy person. He made the interview much lighter and much longer than it was supposed to be. It was wonderful! Lara, in turn, was very nervous and quiet, it was one of her first interviews at that time". Olga continued with a smile on her face as if remembering the moment. "Lara was only answering yes and no. I was getting frustrated and devastated! Rob must have perceived it and asked for a few minutes pause. They returned, and the sweet Lara said she was very nervous and asked if, instead of doing the interview there, we could go for a visit to the studios and see what her day was like, her dressing room, and some pictures of her work and her life. I immediately agreed and it was magnificent. She is really sweet. lady. I did a great job thanks to both of them!". The admiration for them could be sensed in her words. Already seated in our seats, Olga asks me if I'm a ballet fan. "Oh no, not really…actually this is the first time I've seen a ballet performance." "My favorite ballets are Romeo and Juliette and, of course, Giselle. It will be Lara's next ballet and it is also one of her favorite works", she kindly informed. "Ballet is more than a dance, it is a story that is recreated and told. You know the story of Romeo and Juliet for sure. As far as I know, the performances of Puente and Rodriguez made the piece even more exceptional". "Giselle however is a very sad and profound story. It's the story of a peasant woman who falls in love with someone she tgought to be peasent as her. However, he was nothing more than a prince", she says excitedly. "When Giselle discovers the hoax, goes into madness. The prince is cursed, but Giselle's love will save him, and their love will eternalized, even after the death of Giselle, who gave her life for him.". I had no idea that ballet had a story, I thought it was just people dancing. Maybe my general culture really needs to be improved. "This ballet is extremely romantic, the one we are going to see today. I hope you like it. Lara and Rob are really a perfect couple." This last statement made something in me twitch, but not in a good way. "Are they a couple?", i try to ask it without showing interest. "I don't really know, Kyle. They are very close and move in sync in and out of stage. However, that would mean a perfect love story and I don't know if that will be the case. They come from the same country, they studied dance together, they can just be friends." Olga must have sensed my discomfort because the words she said next really shocked me, "Kyle, Lara is not a woman for you. She's too good of a girl for you, honey." I confess that hearing those words hurt me and I didn't understand what the meaning of them were. "And I'm not a good guy, Olga?", I asked almost in a whisper, trying to understand why she said what she said. "Yes you are, my dear. You are a good boy. But Lara lives for her career, she doesn't party or walk in the same circles as you. You are true opposites. She gave up a lot of things in her life to be where she is now. To be a ballerina you have to have a lot of discipline, you know?", she kindly said, patting her hand in mine. "Lady Olga, sorry to intrude, but Kyle doesn't need a relationship. All it takes is one night, and then that opposite thing doesn't matter much", interrupts Liam, leaving me totally embarrassed about his lack of sensitivity towards our agent's wife , and older woman who is accompanying us . I hear Dean laugh and a profound sigh. I guess it is from Thomas's after hearing such nonsense. "Less Liam, less, please" asked Olga, looking seriously at Liam, who adjusted himself in his seat, frightened by Olga's gaze. "Turn off your cell phones, the performance will start Liam. You'll have a lot of women to look at. Avoid any more blunders". I heard Dean's voice requesting his colleague. Well, the show is truly amazing. Lara is a blast. I have to agree that that Rob guy does it well too. Something in me seemed annoyed by some of the scenes. Their complicity and synchrony made me a little uncomfortable. Maybe it's because I know I'll be dealing with both of them in the next few months, and I´m afraid they will be too clingy with each other. I sigh, lost in that thought.
