CHAPTER 17 Kenneth stared up at the ceiling of his Prague hotel room. Spring break has started, and yet, here I am… alone. She’s not coming. At some time in the past, a pipe had leaked. The brown stains on the ceiling followed a clear, straight line to the corner, where a spider worked hard to build a web the maid would wipe away at her next cleaning. I know how that spider feels, he thought. I’ve worked so hard to build something with Brooke, only to have her job come in and sweep it away every time.
