Brooke awoke with the disconcerting sensation that she didn’t know where she was. Even stranger, though mildly irritating, the feeling didn’t make her panic the way it normally would have. She felt warm, safe and comfortable… as well as lost. Opening her eyes, she stared up into a dark room with a low ceiling of soft tiles, barely visible by the thin sliver of moonlight shining in a window she didn’t recognize. My apartment is always darker at night, both because the building next to us blocks out direct light, and because the window is on the other side of my privacy curtain.
