CHAPTER 8 “Well, I’ve decided,” Jackie announced. Brooke looked up from Kenneth’s beautiful dark eyes to see Jackie standing inside the door, chewing her nail. “I didn’t hear you come in,” Brooke commented. “Are you okay? You look a little pale.” “Morning sickness,” Jackie admitted bluntly. “It’s a misery, but it will hopefully pass in time.” She gave a dismissive wave of her hand. “Anyway, I’ve decided, and Joe agrees. We’re keeping the baby and eloping.” “Oh,” Brooke said mildly. “That’s a good idea.” “Congratulations,” Kenneth added kindly. “When?” Brooke asked. “We’ve got a Unitarian pastor reserved for Christmas Eve,” Jackie said, “but we’d like to move in sooner.
