JANE
My chest constricted with each word Rachel said and tears cascaded down my cheeks.
Rachel was my friend, the only person I had in this world. It wasn't that I didn't want to run, but I couldn't bring myself to.
I couldn't bring myself to leave her to her fate. No matter how I thought about it, I just felt it was best I stayed with her.
After all, who would I run to if I left and she died? How would I be able to continue living my life if she wasn't there in it?
Could I even be able to survive the guilt knowing that I ran away like a coward?
"No," I shook my head. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to stay with you. If you are going to die, then I'll gladly die with you!"
The last word had barely left my mouth when the giant black wolf suddenly lurched at me.
