FLINDER
She was sent directly to the Angel office. After knocking three times, she heard Angel Georgina say she could come in. Flinder sighed. Here we go.
‘Please sit down Flinder.’ Angel Georgina said.
Flinder was surprised to see Angel Betty, Angel Michael and Angel Richard
standing in line behind Angel Georgina. They all watched her come in, but didn't say anything.
‘We are worried about you.’ Angel Georgina continued as she sat down. ‘You
skipped your morning training and missed school today. We don't allow this kind of
behavior here. So please, explain your actions to us.’
‘I..’ Flinder sighed. ‘I was with Max.’
Angel Georgina gasped loudly. ‘How do you know his name? We haven't told you
that. It wasn't in the case file we gave you.’
‘I talked to him. He told me his name. I had to see him again. I'm sorry.’ Flinder
stared at her feet. She felt the eyes of her teachers on her skin. They were watching
her carefully.
‘Why are you lying to us?’
‘I'm not lying.’
‘Flinder.’ said Angel Richard angry. He was the oldest Angel teaching here at the Angel
school. ‘There is no such thing. Humans can't see us. It never happened before and
it's not happening now. You're making this up.’
‘I'm not!’
‘You're not allowed to leave the school for two weeks. No teleporting.’ Angel
Georgina said.
‘No, please. Max needs me.’
‘We have decided.’ Angel Georgina raised her hand. Angel Richard and Angel
Michael walked towards her and placed their hands on Flinder's head.
‘Please don't.’ she begged them. Then suddenly a white light was burning in her
eyes. The pain she felt in her head was like anything she felt before. Flinder was
screaming. The last thing she heard before she lost consciousness was: ‘Don't fight
it Flinder. Go to the light.’
Waking up the next morning, Flinder felt weak. Her head was hurting. Trying to sit up, she heard someone saying her name, but only very soft. Like she was under water.
‘Easy Flin.’ Clarity said to her. ‘How do you feel?’
‘They drained me of my star powers Clare. I feel like a god damn human again.’
‘I'm so sorry. I tried covering for you, but they searched our room. They were
looking everywhere for you. I had to tell them you left again.’
Flinder believed Clarity did her best. She couldn't believe the Angels thought she
was lying though. Why would she lie? ‘Can I have some water, please?’ Her mouth
was dry like the sahara. Probably from all the screaming. Clare gave her a water
bottle, but how hard she tried, Flinder couldn't open the cap.
‘Let me help you.’ Clare's hands were placed softly on hers and took away the
bottle. She opened the cap in less than a second.
‘I'm scared Max will become the worst side of himself now. He hit his dad and he felt
proud about it. Now I can't stop him anymore.’ Flinder took a sip of water.
‘Don't you worry about him. He has still good in him, right?’
‘Yes, but not for long.'
