CHAPTER 40: Ellie

“You can’t go? Then why did you....” Ellie counted to ten in her head. Adrian was driving her absolutely bonkers. Her body, however, was a tad disappointed it wouldn’t be seeing him again on New Year’s Eve but it was for the best. She was pretty sure that as soon as alcohol clouded her brain she’d be back in that man’s bed and she couldn’t let that happen.
“That’s too bad,” said Alison. “I really wanted to meet you but maybe some other time.”
“I’m sure we’ll be seeing each other.” He gave Ellie a look that said he wasn’t just talking to Alison.
“I’m sure we won’t.”
“Ellie, you should be nicer to the man. He’s helping you out...a lot.”
“Your friend is a wise woman,” he said.
There were voices in the background on the phone.
