“You can’t stay long?” Ellie’s head was going to explode. Adrian had to be kidding. They’d just met.
“I really shouldn’t but since you insist, I’ll call my mom and tell her I’ll be late.”
She grabbed his arm when he started to pull his phone from his pocket. “Don’t call your mother.”
“I have to. I was talking to her when you raced out the door.” He frowned. “Actually, I’m surprised she hasn’t called me back yet. I told her I had to go and rescue the woman I’d picked up at the s*x club and—”
“You did what?” Ellie was pretty sure glass shattered nearby from her screech.
“Oh, s**t. You should see your face.” The asshole burst out laughing.
“You are such a jerk.” She shoved past him and headed for the door to her building.
