Lia I stand there for what feels like hours after Caden finally leaves. My chest is tight, every nerve frayed. The space he left behind still feels heavy, like smoke I can’t clear out. My hands shake as I close my bedroom door and lock it. I rush over and shut the window—latching it tight. It's stupid. He’s gone. I should feel safe. But my heart won’t slow down. Why was he even here, really? To mess with me? To twist the knife deeper just for the hell of it? And what’s worse is, for a split second, I almost believed him. Like he might actually be trying to help. That’s the thing about Caden Zarrow. His words are sugar-coated poison—sweet going down, but, toxic by the time they hit your stomach.
