ROSALIE's POV For a week now, I’ve walked these same corridors, each step was echoing as if to remind me that he was not here. Michael’s men shadowed me, their eyes following my every move with a silent, watchful intensity. I could not help but wonder if he knew I was here. This time, David hadn’t come to find me, which reassured me that he was unaware—I knew he wouldn’t have sent someone else. Of course, he hadn’t tried to reach out. Not once. I had lost my phone during the abduction, but David had given me a new one; if he’d wanted, he could have tracked down my number. But he hadn’t. He hadn’t even bothered to check in.
