"Why did you ruin Finn’s girlfriend’s life?" I asked as we drove through the dark road, heading to the casino. The only light came from the streetlamps, flickering as we passed. Outside, the night seemed to stretch endlessly, but inside, tension filled the air between us.
Marco kept his eyes on the road, his voice as flat and emotionless as ever.
"Her father pretended to work for Michael but was stealing from him. I warned him once, he didn’t listen, so I did what was necessary," he said, his tone as indifferent as if we were talking about the weather.
I glanced over at him, searching for any hint of emotion, but he was unreadable—stone-faced as always. He spoke about destroying lives with the same cold detachment that made Marco impossible to understand, let alone reach.
