Caslista POV “Liz, what the f**k is going on here? Like, you are everywhere?” West, who I thought was supposed to be calm and even yelping after what I watched in that video, asked calmly. I ignored him, then turned my gaze to look at Emily. “Don’t tell me you are speaking the same language as my brother?” “I am your stepbrother, say it in full,” his words made me chuckle. He always does this. Well, he hates Ryan f*****g Van as much as I do. That bastard milked his mother and turned her supporter against her just to be the CEO of her company. “b***h, you are everywhere! Like, everywhere-everywhere,” Emily gave me that dirty look which for a moment gave me a hint of what she was trying to say. “Look, Emily, West, I swear I didn't f**k some random guy. I didn't break anyone's head… I only slapped that motherfucker who put West in this state,” I explained before closing the space between me and West. “With this state, I wonder if you would be able to—” “I would. I have to play the scrimmage before the nationals. You know LQ has never brought home the trophy,” West explained with so much pain in his voice. “If I want to break off Ryan's shadow, I have to be West—” “f**k it! You are a much better player than any hockey player that I know, man,” I interrupted him before he would go on with this story. I am done trying to have a day revolving around Ryan f*****g Van! He could go f**k himself for all I care. Right now, my major concern is raising a hundred thousand dollars for my mother to continue treatments. Maybe I should be focusing more on getting projects and also lead roles in high-budget movies. “Look, win or not, you are the best. You are the reason I am there to watch the games. I became a hockey person all because I love watching you on ice,” I said with a faint smile on my face, not sugarcoating my words. West has always been cooler. On ice, in that rink, I see someone different—not West Ryan, an elder brother who my father had with another woman without my mom having any knowledge about. With hockey, I am able to see West as the best and my favourite hockey player. “Irk! Now you sound like you have a crush on me.” I burst into laughter at West’s words. He knows me better than anyone. My life is a circle. I doubt I would be able to live a romantic life because I have seen them all on screen and also lived them on screen. Fuck it! “b***h, on a more serious note, what are you going to do about these dating rumours about you and Evander?” Emily's question distracted me from my thoughts. “You slapped Evander because he is gay—” “Okay, Emily, enough of all of this. You know, West, you both… f**k you both…” I burst into tears even when this whole conversation was meant to be funny. West's and Emily's facial expressions changed instantly. “Is this about your mom? Like, so you need money again?” West asked. He sat up, his hazel eyes piercing right through mine. “Lis, I get you. I would—” “No, West, definitely not this time. I know you have no money,” I interrupted him. I would be a witch trying to take even a penny from him after the money he gave me the last time. He literally drained his savings just to help me pay off the therapy sessions, which had been a really great help. At least there was no burst out of the pain from that jerk of a father being violent towards Mom. “Look, I know all you have now is just your shares, and please, don't even attempt to touch it,” I was firm this time even though a part of me was trying to be a witch. I want to save my mother. That woman had sacrificed so much for me. If not for her, I would have been Ryan f*****g Van's victim as well. “The share is the only thing of your mother you have in your name. Don't lose it,” I held his hand tightly, putting up my signature smile. That f*****g ungenuine smile. “I get this and yes, I would break that motherfucker’s head the next time he tries what he did last night.” “Talk about being gay. Is he not known—” “Talk about being a b***h, Emily! Can't you just slow down on spewing all the rumours?” I did not wait for her to laugh at my words and shake her boot like I was entertaining her running-mouth habit. I left the hospital ward to only God knows where. I have a week to figure out a hundred thousand dollars… not with West or Ryan's help. I smiled faintly the moment my agency called. After abandoning me for what seems like twelve months? Or sixteen? Fuck! “Why the f**k are you calling me, Miss Hanna?” “Show up, Calista. This is very important… your life might change for good, okay?” My manager said, her words so usual that I don't even feel the need to show even my shadow wherever it was. “Before you hang up and decide, your acting career might soar to the next level.” “Text me the address!”
