I woke up to Cole shaking me.
"It's 15 minutes till' class," he said.I jolted out of bed.
"And you couldn't wake me up sooner?" I screeched from the bathroom.
"You were peaceful. Plus, last night took a toll on you. We had to clean the litter that was strewn around, pick up the food container and food, water and take care of the kittens. You were exhausted," he said.I stomped out of the bathroom and ran to the cafeteria to grab food, with Cole trailing behind me. I snagged toast and a cup of water, and he copied me. We went to our table, where Cia, Emma, Frost, and Gav were.
"Your late," Gav grumbled.
"The kittens left an unexpected mess for us to clean up. We had to clean the litter that was strewn around, pick up the food container and food, water and take care of the kittens," I said, copying what Cole had said. Cole noticed, because he smirked.
"Anyways, we're here now," I said. Gav nodded.
"Well, hopefully vampires aren't surrounding the school today. I'll be damned if they do," he said. I smiled. Then the bell rang for class.
"Whoever gets to class first wins!" Cole shouted, already running.
"HEY!" Emma and I yelped. We ran after him, but he was at class first. He smirked.
"What's my prize?" he asked. Just then, Mrs. Shona walked in.
"Prize for what? Getting to class first?" she teased.
"Yep," Cole declared.
"Detention," Mrs. S teased again. Everyone but Cole agreed.
"Fine. No prize," he sulked.
"Who knew the big, bad wolf could be disappointed?" I teased. He growled playfully.
"Who says I'm disappointed? I'll get my prize." he declared. I paused.
"Anyway. Today we are going to practice more on becoming invisible. I'm just going to copy what I said yesterday, but hopefully without danger," Mrs. S said. I silently groaned.
"For this, you have to have confidence. Courage. Passion. You have to think about defeat. Think about being invisible, then know you're invisible. Then attack," Mrs. S explained, demonstrating. She went from human, to spirit, to air. I looked at Cole, who looked at me.
"She really is doing exactly what she did yesterday," I mouthed.
"Boring stuff," he mouthed back. I giggled.
"Kathryn, would you like to try?" Mrs. S asked, back in her body. I nodded. I got up, slid out of my body, and focused. I thought about Alice, the way she died. The way she suffered. I thought about being invisible, and felt myself fade. Again. I opened my eyes. Mrs. Shona had a proud gleam in her eyes. Just like yesterday, I thought.
"Kathryn, please go back to your seat. Excellent job," I slid back to my place by Cole, who smirked at me.
"Exactly like yesterday," he mouthed. I was about to giggle, but stopped myself in time.
"Moving on. In order to become invisible, you have to be calm so you can focus. This can be challenging when your being attacked, but it's needed," she explained, before droning on and on about how she was able to do it, and had us try to do it under PEER PRESSURE. Bro. We arn't babies. Anyway, the bell rang shortly after that.
"Time for Animal caretaking?" I asked Cole.
"Time for Animal caretaking," he confirmed.
"What even is caretaking? I mean, I feel like we've all had pets," I said, while we were walking to class.
"I dunno. Special caretaking for disastrous kittens?" Cole joked.
"Or just that. Caretaking," Gav pointed out.
"Are you always this nosy?" Cea peeped.
"Ask Kathryn," he said. Cea turned to me.
"Yes," I confirmed. Gavin glared at me.
"What? It's true," I pointed out. I turned to Cole.
"Anywho, why are there 2 animal classes?" I prodded.
"Are you always this pushy?" Cole grouched.
"Ask Gavin. Or Emma," I mimicked Gav. He actually turned to Gav.
"Yep," Gav confirmed.
"I asked a question," I said.
"That will be answered in a moment," Frost pointed out. He was right. We were here.
