R A V E N N A The drive back home was silent. Too silent. I didn't want Kai to ask questions, because the answers to those questions might not sit well with him. Once we reached home, I took out his favorite sandwich and placed it on a plate. I watched him happily munching his food. I smiled, even though I had no intention of ever letting Kai know about his real father, deep inside, I had hoped that maybe someday, he would be able to meet his father, and Zane would accept him and love him. But, I knew that was a dream that could never become a reality. I thought Zane was a good man, someone who deserved all the happiness in the world. He wasn't. I knew that, yet I still let him use me, and treat me however he wanted. The way I felt for him back then was nothing more than infatuat
