I was barefooted, twigs piercing my legs as I ran with Kai in my arms. I wasn't running like a girl, I was running for our lives, and Kai's.
I couldn't stop, even for a minute.
If I did, we were going to die.
Paws pounded on the wet ground, growls echoed in the forest, and my heart raced a thousand beats per second.
I was a coward, running from danger instead of facing it head on.
I wasn't brave, I was weak.
