R A V E N N A
It was finally the day of the mating ceremony. Everyone was gathered in the pack, awaiting the arrival of the Alpha. The entire town had been buzzing with excitement, especially the unmated women. They all wanted the Alpha, and no one could blame them.
Zane had successfully deceived his parents and the entire pack into believing that Morgan was his mate.
Of course, she was the beta's daughter. I wouldn't stand a chance against her.
Even the Alpha and Luna wouldn't accept me to be the next Luna in line. I was a daughter of a nobody. My father was a low rank wolf. And my mother was a werewolf without an actual wolf, she was almost considered a curse or 'human' as they say.
I had no rank.
And now, I was pregnant with the Alpha's child and was planning on keeping the baby. The thought of terminating the pregnancy hadn't even crossed my mind. The baby was a part of me, a part of us. It didn't matter if we weren't going to be together, I had a part of him and that was something I will cherish for the rest of my life.
As long as I live, Zane will never forget about me. He'll know that I was his true mate.
He'll know. If not now, but later.
I wasn't giving up.
I dressed up, choosing a simple dress. The dress was tight, accentuating my curves. I had gotten a little fat, and my boobs had gotten bigger, I was a little over a month gone but thankfully wasn't showing yet.
Werewolves pregnancy span was seven months, which makes their pregnancy grow faster. I knew in two to three months, I wouldn't be able to hide this pregnancy any longer. What then would everyone say when they find out. I was sure going to become a laughing stock in the pack and a disappointment to my parents.
I shook the negative thoughts away, and finished getting ready.
A knock on my door caught my attention and my mother walked in. She had a gentle smile on her face, but her eyes looked sad. She probably wasn't looking forward to the mating ceremony any more than I was.
"Ravenna," She greeted, approaching me. "You look beautiful. Are you ready to go?"
"I'm ready," I smiled.
"Okay, let's go."
I grabbed my phone and left the room, following her outside. My father was waiting for us by the car. When he saw us, he smiled widely and waved. "There are my girls," He beamed.
"Hi, Daddy," I said, smiling.
"Hi, baby. You look lovely, my flower." He complimented, I smiled and thanked him. We got into the car and drove off.
The mating ceremony was going to be held at the Alpha's house. We drove past the forest and into the town, pulling up at the gate of the pack house. The gate was opened and we drove in, parking the car.
We walked out of the car and made our way towards the entrance.
Everyone was already gathered outside, chatting excitedly. There was a crowd of women near the door, and I noticed that it was the unmated women, vying for the Alpha's attention.
It seemed like he was going to choose his mate at the mating ceremony.
We walked past them and into the house.
The inside was filled with people and everyone was talking excitedly, drinking, eating, and dancing. The atmosphere was lively and everyone was having a great time.
I didn't feel the same.
All I could think about was how miserable I felt, and the pain in my chest.
"I'm going to check on some people. Will you be okay on your own?" My father asked, looking at my mother.
"I'll be fine," My mother answered.
"Okay. Have fun." He said, giving us a hug before he disappeared into the crowd.
"I'm not feeling well, Mom," I said, sighing.
"Are you okay?" She asked, her eyes filling with worry.
"Yes, I just need some fresh air."
"Do you want me to go with you?"
"No, Mom. Stay here. I'll be fine."
"Okay," She said.
I left the room and went out into the backyard. I walked around the garden, taking deep breaths.
I could smell Zane, and I knew he was somewhere nearby. My feet carried me towards his scent, and soon, I found myself standing in front of a closed door.
The first thing I heard was a moan. "Zane," a feminine voice moaned.
My heart dropped, and I felt weak.
Morgan.
That was her voice.
I had recognized it anywhere.
"Yes, Morgan," Zane's husky voice filled the room.
I had a strong urge to open the door, and see what was going on in there. But, I knew that if I did, I wouldn't like what I saw.
It was better to walk away, but I couldn't. "You're so sexy, baby," He continued.
Another moan filled the room. "Mm, that's right," He growled.
"Please f**k me, Zane. You're driving me crazy."
"Turn around," He commanded. My stomach churned, and I had to force the bile back down.
"Yes, Alpha," Morgan purred.
"Mm, such a good girl," He praised. "Spread your legs."
I couldn't take this anymore.
I opened the door and walked in.
The scene before me almost broke me. Zane was behind Morgan, his hand wrapped around her neck as he rammed his d**k into her.
"Ravenna," Zane snarled, pulling out of Morgan and quickly putting on his pants.
Morgan turned around, her eyes widened. "f**k," She cursed.
"Leave," Zane barked. Without thinking twice, I immediately ran out of the room and out of the house. Tears streamed down my face, and my heart was aching.
I hated him. I hated them so much that I wanted to so badly scream and break things.
But I quietly went to my mother and sat next to her. She had noticed my change of mood, but the ceremony had already began.
Zane and Morgan walked into the room as if they just weren't f*****g each other's brains out seconds ago.
They both stood in front of the Alpha, ready to be mated.
"Welcome, everyone," the Alpha spoke, his voice loud and clear.
"Today, we have gathered to celebrate the union of my son, Zane, and his mate, Morgan. As Alpha and Luna, it is our job to make sure that the pack is secure and our children are safe. And, we can only achieve this when they have found their mates. I am proud to welcome Morgan, into my prestigious family. She is a strong and intelligent woman. Together, they will make an amazing team, and will bring new changes and a bright future for the pack."
"I, Morgan, take Zane to be my mate, and Alpha, and I vow to be loyal to him and our pack, and love him until death do us apart," Morgan said.
"I, Zane, take Morgan to be my mate, and Luna, and I vow to be loyal to her and our pack, and love her until death do us apart."
His declaration of love to her felt like a dagger to my chest. It was so painful and I found it hard to breathe. I couldn't bare this anymore. I stood up from my seat and slipped out of the house without anyone noticing.
I ran until my bones ached, and I collapsed on the ground. The sound of my heartbreaking cries echoed through the forest, and my tears never stopped flowing.
How could I have been so stupid? How could I have ever thought that someone like Zane would want me?
I could never stay and watch my soulmate love another. It would ruin me. I wouldn't be able to survive it.
I can't.
I couldn't do this anymore.
If I wanted to live, I needed to leave.
Far away, where no one will find me. Where I could be alone and forget about everything.
Away from him.
Away from this place.
Away from the horrible memories it held.
I got up from the ground and wiped my tears.
With one final look at the pack, I turned around and left, never looking back.
