๐Ÿ’š The door clicked shut behind him. Silence filled the room againโ€” But this timeโ€ฆ it wasnโ€™t calm. ๐ŸŒฟ It was tense. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š Axelโ€™s gaze moved around slowly. Books neatly arranged. A study table by the window. Soft light falling across the room. ๐Ÿ’š Everything about it wasโ€ฆ Organized. Peaceful. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Controlled. ๐Ÿ’š Completely opposite of him. ๐Ÿ’š And thenโ€” His eyes landed on her. ๐ŸŒฟ Skye Anderson. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š Standing near the table. Arms crossed. Expression calmโ€” But not welcoming. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œBe quick,โ€ she said flatly. โ€œI donโ€™t have all day.โ€ ๐Ÿ”ฅ No greeting. No hesitation. ๐Ÿ’š Axel raised an eyebrow slightly. A faint smirk touching his lips. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œMissed me too?โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Skye didnโ€™t react. Didnโ€™t smile. ๐ŸŒฟ โ€œStart the project.โ€ ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š Straight to the point. ๐Ÿ’š Axel walked further inside. Slow. Unhurried. Like he had all the time in the world. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œRelax,โ€ he said casually. โ€œWe just got here.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š โ€œYou got here,โ€ she corrected. ๐Ÿ’š A pause. ๐Ÿ”ฅ That attitude again. ๐Ÿ’š Axel stopped right in front of her desk. Leaning slightly against it. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œSo,โ€ he said, glancing at her notes, โ€œWhatโ€™s the topic?โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Skye picked up her notebook. Keeping distance. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œHuman decision-making,โ€ she replied. ๐Ÿ’š Axel let out a quiet chuckle. ๐ŸŒฟ โ€œPerfect.โ€ ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š Skye frowned slightly. โ€œWhatโ€™s funny?โ€ ๐Ÿ’š He looked at her. Directly. ๐Ÿ”ฅ โ€œWeโ€™re both terrible at that.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š A pause. ๐Ÿ’š Skyeโ€™s expression didnโ€™t changeโ€” But her eyes sharpened. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œSpeak for yourself.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Axel smirked. ๐ŸŒฟ โ€œI am.โ€ ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š Silence again. But this timeโ€” It felt different. ๐Ÿ’š Less hostile. Moreโ€ฆ aware. ๐Ÿ’š Skye moved to the table. Opening her book. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œWeโ€™ll divide the work,โ€ she said. โ€œYou handle research. Iโ€™ll write.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Axel didnโ€™t move. Didnโ€™t sit. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œNo.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Skye looked up. โ€œWhat do you mean no?โ€ ๐Ÿ’š He stepped closer. Too close. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Again. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œWe do it together,โ€ he said. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œThatโ€™s not necessary.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š โ€œIt is.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š โ€œWhy?โ€ ๐Ÿ’š A pause. ๐ŸŒฟ His gaze didnโ€™t leave hers. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š โ€œBecause I said so.โ€ ๐Ÿ”ฅ Control again. ๐Ÿ’š Skye exhaled sharply. โ€œYou really donโ€™t know how to work with people, do you?โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Axel tilted his head slightly. ๐ŸŒฟ โ€œI donโ€™t work with people.โ€ ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š โ€œExactly.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š A small silence followed. ๐Ÿ’š Thenโ€” Skye sat down. Opening her book again. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œFine,โ€ she said. โ€œSit.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Axel didnโ€™t move for a second. Then slowlyโ€” He pulled the chair and sat across from her. ๐Ÿ’š Their eyes met again. Closer now. No distractions. ๐ŸŒฟ Just them. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š The room felt smaller suddenly. Quieter. Heavier. ๐Ÿ’š Skye looked down first. Breaking the moment. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œStart reading,โ€ she said. ๐Ÿ’š Axel picked up the bookโ€” But didnโ€™t open it immediately. ๐Ÿ’š Insteadโ€” He watched her. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Like he was trying to figure her out. ๐Ÿ’š And for the first timeโ€” ๐ŸŒฟ He wasnโ€™t trying to control her. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š He was trying to understand her. ๐Ÿ”ฅ And thatโ€ฆ Was far more dangerous. ๐Ÿ’š The silence between them had just settledโ€” Whenโ€” ๐ŸŒฟ Knock. Knock. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š Skye looked up instantly. โ€œCome in.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š The door opened slowly. The same servant stepped inside, holding a tray. ๐Ÿ’š Two glasses. Snacks placed neatly. ๐Ÿ’š He placed them on the table quietly. Respectful. Silent. ๐Ÿ’š Then he spokeโ€” ๐ŸŒฟ โ€œMr. and Mrs. Anderson called. Theyโ€™ll be home in one and a half hour.โ€ ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š His eyes shifted briefly toward Skye. ๐Ÿ’š Skye nodded slightly. โ€œI know.โ€ ๐ŸŒฟ A knowing look passed between them. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š Like this wasnโ€™t new. Like this was routine. ๐Ÿ’š The servant gave a small nod and left the room. The door closed again. ๐Ÿ’š Silence returned. But this timeโ€” It feltโ€ฆ different. ๐Ÿ’š Axel leaned back slightly in his chair. Watching her. Carefully. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œYou knew?โ€ he asked. ๐Ÿ’š Skye picked up her pen. Casual. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œThey always call.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š โ€œBefore coming home?โ€ ๐Ÿ’š โ€œYes.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š A pause. ๐ŸŒฟ Axelโ€™s gaze didnโ€™t leave her. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š โ€œMust be nice,โ€ he said quietly. ๐Ÿ’š Skyeโ€™s hand stopped for a second. Just a second. ๐Ÿ’š She looked up at him. โ€œKnowing when your parents are coming?โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Axel didnโ€™t answer immediately. His jaw tightened slightly. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œKnowing theyโ€™re coming,โ€ he replied. ๐ŸŒฟ Silence. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š Something in his toneโ€” Wasnโ€™t casual anymore. ๐Ÿ’š Skye noticed it. ๐Ÿ’š She didnโ€™t push. Didnโ€™t question. ๐ŸŒฟ But she understoodโ€ฆ a little. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š She slid one of the glasses toward him. โ€œDrink,โ€ she said simply. ๐Ÿ’š Axel looked at it. Then at her. ๐Ÿ’š โ€œYou offering me something?โ€ ๐Ÿ’š โ€œDonโ€™t overthink it.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š A faint smirk appeared on his lips. ๐Ÿ”ฅ โ€œThatโ€™s new.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Skye rolled her eyes slightly. โ€œJust drink and start working.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š Axel picked up the glassโ€” But instead of drinkingโ€” ๐Ÿ’š He leaned back again. Still watching her. ๐ŸŒฟ More observant now. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š Because this placeโ€ฆ This silenceโ€ฆ This version of herโ€” ๐Ÿ”ฅ Was something he hadnโ€™t expected. ๐Ÿ’š And somehowโ€” ๐ŸŒฟ It was getting harder to leave. ๐ŸŒฟ.
